I don't think Wahl even does this though anymore. It's fun watching him trying to be funny/witty in his writing, tweeting or on TV and he just... can't do it. He knows that MiB are the biggest thing in American soccer media and it's eating at him.
Like I'm watching him right now, he's trying to add excitement to his voice while doing a highlight for the France/Australia match and it just comes off so flat, so fake, so hilarious at his expense.

Par for the course for him... Whichever country he talks about, he makes a vague nonsensical reference about something in that country and that'll be all he says.
Like, I'm not expecting him to break down all of the intricacies of the matches, but damn it, man you're the host of the studio show, your whole job is to drive the car and set up the talking points for the analysts and he just fails miserably at it.
He brings absolutely nothing of value to the broadcasts.
