Good article on Balogun.

Sky Sports

quote:

Folarin Balogun has emerged as a transfer target for Inter Milan and is valued at £50m; Arsenal academy product scored 21 Ligue 1 goals on loan at Reims last term; "For me, he is one of the most exciting young No 9s in world football," says his individual coach

quote:

"You look at it, there's not an abundance of young No 9s floating around the market. That's why there is going to be a lot of interest in Flo, whether he stays at Arsenal or goes somewhere else."

Do we know if he was playing out wide or through the middle?

I recall Milan possibly seeing him as a 10.

They were playing a 4-3-3 per the google graphic with him playing LW. I saw clips of both goals and he was on the left when they happened.

I stated the team Milan played was a Serie D team. This is incorrect it is a newly promoted Serie C team.

No trying to be ugly but what lineup was that from. Loftus-Cheek played, Pogbeda scored on Pulisic's assists.

Pulisic impressing AC Milan manager Pioli, gets two assists in preseason match

quote:

Christian Pulisic has only been at AC Milan for a few days, but his new boss is loving what he’s seeing. Manager Stefano Pioli, in an interview with Sky Sports Italy, said that the U.S. men’s national team star has already shown the qualities that saw Milan help free him from Chelsea in a €22 million transfer completed on July 13. “Pulisic is a player,” enthused Pioli. “When I say that, I mean that he is someone who knows how to do the right thing at the right time. And when you have someone like him at your disposal, things become easier.” Serie A has always been noted as a league where decision-making and tactical understanding are prized traits, and Pioli added that the Pennsylvania native is showing he belongs at one of the league’s true giants. “He is certainly intelligent,” said Pioli. “[He] beats his man, both in one-on-ones, in give-and-go or on through balls. He is of the level — and is different from — his teammates.”

quote:

Pulisic “can play in various positions,” explained Pioli before noting that Milan — who toggled back and forth between a 4-2-3-1 system and various back three formations last season — will consider using a 4-3-3 as a starting point in the upcoming campaign. Playing on the left wing, Pulisic produced two assists and struck the post in the opening 17 minutes of a 7-0 friendly win over Serie D club FC Lumezzane on Thursday. “A lot will depend on the knowledge we have on the pitch, or if other players arrive,” said Pioli. “We will also use other systems, but we’re already used to changing within the same match… I continue to believe that different characteristics, in a well-defined game system, can give a team more unpredictability.” Based on Pulisic’s start to life with the Rossoneri, it looks like one thing we can predict is a bigger role than he got at Chelsea.

Am I missing something in regards to Matt Turner and Gio Reyna both not even being substitutes in their friendlies today?

Gio is hurt. Matt just finished a summer schedule that included Nations League and Gold Cup and is being given some well deserved time off. Meanwhile I understand Arsenal's #1 keeper is playing like #2.

This question no knocks on the person that asked it is why the commentators of the USMNT need to start being more upfront with the fan base some of which are casual. Why aren't Christian Pulisic or Weston McKennie or insert name at Gold Cup? The straight up answer should be that the Federation prioritized winning Nations League and that our #1's just played a whole season a World Cup in the middle and a tournament at the end and need a break.
We have a certain portion of the fan base that needs to understand what is going on and not assume that they know.
