Yes. It’s assuming the worst to think that I would believe there was an explicit mandate.

Ok, what exactly were you implying with this?

it’s hard not to look sideways at the MLS inclusions and playing time.

That an MLS bias was possibly impacting his decision making.

The numbers say otherwise.

He’s implying that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about

The MLS guys barely played, but people here still sky scream over Jordan Morris getting subbed on in the 88th minute.

Y’all constantly argue with straw men and engage in intellectual dishonesty to score points in each others minds, and I just do not understand the motivation.

How is listing the number of MLS guys on the rosters and how much they played in the last two world cups intellectually dishonest?

You're just using buzzwords now.

I don't understand the motivation to rely on flimsy conjecture to shite on Gregg when there are a lot of real tangible things to shite on him for.

Accuses others of being intellectually dishonest by being intellectually dishonest.

MLS favouritism was definitely in play. That was obvious before the Cup started.

The dishonest part is pretending that it’s beyond the pale to wonder whether Gregg showed favoritism to MLS players.

But I don’t like this back and forth. I just wish people would not intentionally misinterpret peoples positions, but then again, I’m overly earnest, so maybe I’m missing the fun by expecting a message board to be better than it is.

You can wonder it, no one is saying you can't. I can also wonder why you're refusing to address the numbers but are so willing to believe a conjecture-heavy twitter thread. Seems like you had a pre-conceived notion and just want confirmation bias.

Is that fair or am I creating more straw men?

I do not believe there is a strict "MLS quota" that says there is an exact number of MLS players that HAVE to get certain minutes

I do believe that it currently reflects a pressure that comes from executives to give minutes to MLS players not on the basis of merit.

Well Gregg clearly said frick the pressure if there was, because the group stage was the least amount of minutes MLS players played for the USMNT since the advent of the league.

I'll put it this way, Gregg took Long and Roldan for a reason (vibes) and Gregg took Morris and Moore for a reason (he rated them for some reason).

That definitely leads to questions on talent evaluation when it comes to the latter, that does raise some eye brows because Scally is a better RB than Moore and Morris just doesn't have it anymore. But it's painfully obvious that the MLS didn't apply pressure, or if they did, it had no effect.

In the case of Morris, his two direct competitors for wing depth were Ariola (MLS) and Tillman (playing in an even weaker league in SPL).

What exactly did he do that impressed you? It wasn’t entirely an inspiring performance, we didn’t crash out but we didn’t really do anything impressive.

You honestly think in 4 years he would do a better job than say Roberto Martinez, Deschamps, low, he’ll anyone?

Honestly, I think when this team performed, it was in spite of their head coach, not because of it.
