I has sad now :(
I'll get it around Christmas, though. I'd love to see a 5.2" n5 2014, but I can't see that happening

Yeah, that's the Moto X 2014 now.
Was hoping they'd keep it about $100 cheaper, so if I don't love it, I'm sending it back and grabbing a Moto X 2014.

Can someone fill me in on people's infatuation with the Nexus phones?
Is it because normally, they were like $350 and had no bloatware? Or is it because of the idea that they get updates quicker?
Specs wise, it doesn't seem better than the phones out there like a G3 or Note 4, etc.
I'm still trying to figure what phone to buy. Just got the OnePlus One in and it's cool but I don't think I'll keep it. I'm leaning G3 or Note 4.

It is maxed out specs wise... G3 has the early of this year Snapdragon 801 while the N6 has the newest 805 and the newer Adreno 420 GPU vs the 400 on the G3/S5/One, etc. 3GB RAM vs 2GB on most of those as well.
And yes, there is no bloatware, the development community is huge and the biggest for Android, and you get the Android updates before anyone else.
The Note 4 releasing at about the same time means it also has the same specs with the 805 and 3GB RAM. But, delayed updates often for quite awhile, shitty TouchWiz, and Samsung mobile is quickly going down the shitter. 5.7" screen vs 5.9" as well. All about preference there.

I'm surprised you guys aren't making a bigger deal about the size of the N6. It is worthy of a premium phone price- this is a Motorola device with the latest specs. However the size is unwieldy. I feel my moto x 2014 is too big at times and this is 2 cm taller, 1 cm wider and weighs over 25% more. I use my phone for a phone, not a media device, so I definitely don't need a 6 inch screen. I know moto had to do that to fit everything else inside though.
My media device will be the nexus 9. I'm ordering it on Friday. Lots of people are criticizing it for the price and 4:3 aspect ratio. I could care less. I'm just happy to have the first android device on a 64 bit chip.

G3 and Note 4 have 3GB, correct? Didn't know that about the Snapdragon, thanks.

A valid reason and one I listed. That plus the cheaper price (before) and I can maybe understand. $650 now and I'm wondering if it's worth it, does it have all the bells and whistles of the G3 and N4?

I actually don't like Samsung at all. It started with the Instict (called it the Instink

Yeah, I think I'm maxed at 5.5", so even the Note 4 may be too big for me. Will check this weekend.

Correct. Add the OnePlus One to the Snapdragon 801 group as well, and the even older Adreno 330 GPU on it.

It's a fully loaded phone, top of the line specs. Still a bit under value, iPhone 6+ is $100 more for just 16GB version, N6 is 32GB for $650, and has the bigger screen and bigger battery.

Yeah play with the Note 4 and see. I welcome and wanted a bigger screen so bring it on.

I'm gonna go with the Moto X 2014, G3, or N5.
If people want the MotoX, sign up for their .edu coupon, you can get it for $450, saves you $50.

I'd say yes to both of those. I had a GS3 for a short while and hated it. I really like the no bloatware.
Getting the updated version of the OS is a small but enjoyable perk of the phone as well.

It's a tradeoff. I'm ok with not having the greatest specs if it means I don't have to deal with bloatware.

Nothing a little root and debloat can't take care of. Its not a tradeoff. The real tradeoff was the cheap off contract price which has disappeared. Better specs, design asthetics equals increased price point.

Yep, it now has top of the line specs and the price matches that, for the most part.
It's still about $100 cheaper off contract than other phones with top of the line specs and 32GB. Just not the hundreds cheaper like before.
But that main thing with the N6 is that's a contract phone now, that's why it's on every carrier, it's no longer meant to be a cheaper non contract phone. It's a powerhouse top of the line phone every carrier sells for regular contract pricing like every other phone.

I knew a change was coming. I picked up a second Nexus 7 / 32 at Office Depot this week for $125.

How is the nexus 7? I'd like an android tablet. Whats the best out there besides the expensive arse surface?

These are the first photos taken with Google’s hot new Nexus 6
Looking like the camera is going to be pretty solid.

That also comes with bloatware now? I understand people can root, but just thinking about the reason people liked Nexus was for vanilla android and a cheap price. I was down to the G3 and Note 4, but I may have to get the N6 in my hands. Although, I don't think I want a phone bigger than 5.5 (I know the Note is 5.7).

Not really, if you buy from Google there isn't any bloatware like the other Nexus phones.
