2022 Texas A&M Football Trip Advice

Figured I’d try this first since I’ve never had an account on TexAgs, but I’m planning on going to College Station in 2022 when App State plays A&M. Since I’m coming from North Carolina , my question is should I fly and stay in Austin or Houston? They don’t look like they are too far away from College Station, and I’d rent a car to make the drive on Saturday. Most likely looking at a Thursday/Friday-Sunday and trying to get some feedback on what this board recommends.

Austin airport is smaller and nicer. Rental cars are right on site and are an easy walk. The airport is well outside Austin proper and if you drive from there to CS, you will not even see Austin. There should be less traffic and a prettier drive from Austin vs Houston. You may want to try to reserve a room now in Brenham in case it is a night game.

Fly into Austin and get a rental. Easy drive and much less bull shite to deal with than Houston. Grab some good BBQ on your way to college station.

Fly into College Station and call it a day.

When we go to the game in College Station we stay in Houston. It is like going to an LSU game and staying in New Orleans.

Checked on College Station and it didn’t appear Delta flies there so that option is probably out

I agree that the Austin airport is smaller, easier drive, etc., but you might get a much cheaper flight and car to IAH in Houston. Whatever you do, if you're going on Southwest, do not pick HOU (Hobby) as your airport. It's a long way from College Station.

That's correct, your only options are on American Eagle through Dallas or United Express through Houston.

FYI: United announced they're exiting College Station in January. Sucks. Now I will have to drive to Houston or Austin for most of my air travel.

I didn't realize that, they are pulling out of GRK (Killeen/Ft. Hood) as well

Check out the TAMU Hotel and Conference Center. Right next to stadium and has rooftop pool. Easy walk to bars and you can attend midnight yell.

We flew into HOU and then drove up to College Station and stayed in a hotel after the game Sat night. Had friends in HOU so the free place to stay Thurs and Fri night made it a no brainer. Fajitas by the pound at multiple Tex Mex joints.
