Thanks man. I changed my parking today to Alpine given how easy it was yesterday for going back to the car from the base. I'll ski alpine this morning then head over to Palisades after lunch. I've never taken that gondola ride before, will get some pics

Went over to Palisades for a few runs. Lift lines 10-15 minutes each, icy conditions. On my way back to Alpine

Had first chair for the summit lift yesterday. After a few runs, took the base to base gondola over to Squaw

View from the top of the KT lift where you can hop off the gondola. This run was a sheet of ice

View from the top of sun bowl towards the lake

I wasn't a fan of the lines or snow over here so I went back to Alpine. I found Beaver bowl and the runs here were nice and soft

For shits and giggles, opted to do one nasty looking mogul run to end the day. These moguls were large and not uniform, but pretty soft

Last day today at Alpine then looking like my season may be over

Rocky Mtns from Big Sky south are about to hit a stretch of 60+ degrees with temps staying above freezing at night. The season here is coming to an abrupt early end.

We may tap 90 in Denver this week.

We are going to Beaver Creek next week for spring break. Two little girls (7 and 9) will be in ski school. We are not experienced skiers.

Looking at the forecast and considering the season, would we be better off canceling the trip, or should we be stick with it? I’m very torn on what to do and appreciate any insight from those familiar with Beaver Creek and forecasted conditions. Thank you so much!

It's definitely going to be spring skiing weather out west. Few questions- Is the reservation refundable? Do you enjoy skiing in nice weather and soft snow? Can you find other things to do in beaver if you don't end up skiing for very long?

I love spring skiing compared to the 0*F temps with 4 layers on. I'd still go, but someone from CO on here can hopefully help you out

I have “insurance” on the trip, and I can cancel our flights for a credit with the airlines.

We went skiing last year in Jackson Hole last year for the first time ever. Had a blast, but I don’t know enough to say how I feel about skiing soft snow versus something else.

My goal/reason for going is that I want my kids to grow up learning how to ski. They are excited about the trip, I just don’t want to spend all of the money if it isn’t worth it based on conditions.

No one is familiar with Beaver Creek with highs in the 60s, that is June temps and BC has long been closed when it is this warm. We are getting record heat this week. Lows stay above freezing so it will not be firming up overnight.

This is like going to Arapaho Basin in June, it is not for beginners. I would find something else to do.

Any recent reports from Tyrol? Specifically Kitzbuhel, Soell / Wilder Kaiser, Alpbachtal areas?

60 degrees and sunny most afternoons, but it did get below freezing and night so the snow was pretty good in the mornings. Lower elevation areas sucked but above ~ 1600 meters was fine.

Take 'em. Y'all will have a great time. It will be t-shirt weather, so don't overdress, you'll be sweating in 10 minutes. I'd recommend bibs so you don't get soaked if you fall.

I don't agree with this at all. Slush skiing is about as easy (and fun) as it gets. My son is 6 and has been skiing slush for weeks. It gave him the confidence to go on blue runs. You go much slower and the falls are easier to take.

I just got back from 13 days in Tahoe (Heavenly) and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the skiing.

The first day (March 4) it was windy and icy, but after that it was only a few days that were icy. It was easy to find areas with no ice and mostly what I called mushy. Of course, I had to stay at the higher runs to stay away from the worse slushy and bare spots.

After a few days, I could get off in the trees a bit and enjoyed it. Although, I would have much preferred better snow conditions.

I don't see how they will be able to keep many of the lower runs open after this week's temps.

I would cancel. Colorado resorts do not have enough base built up to hold off these warm temps coming. It would be rough imo.

I agree with this. I think it will be very, very rough.

Skied Loveland this past weekend, pretty sure it was my last turns of this historically bad season.

I've had a banger of a last two weeks, starting with a great pow day at Snowbasin Friday. It was supposed to be a freestyle clinic, but my trainer and I mostly just enjoyed the snow. I did get reeeeaaally close to landing a tamedog (front flip for the skiers out there). I thought I might get it by the end of the season, but I'm running out of soft landings

Basin was beautiful with all the trees covered in rime at the higher elevations.

We were lucky to ride by Sister's Bowl right as patrol was dropping the rope. Incredible untouched powder turns. So great we had to do it again before word got out.

With the way the weather has been and how the mountain has deteriorated, this seems like a month ago.

Back at it Saturday with my wife and 6 y/o son. He rode the gondola and did blues all over the mountain. We had a blast.

Took off last Thursday and hit Snowbird. All around fun day riding Mineral Basin in the morning and Gad Forest in the afternoon. 30,000 vert and a new speed record.

Friday - Sunday at Basin with a great mix of freestyle training, family time, and likely my last teach of the season.

I know this season sucked for a lot of people in a lot of ways. I didn't get to be in the trees as much as usual, but I took advantage of the groomer practice time and worked on my skills. Snowbasin will probably be dead after this heatwave, but I have 2 Bird days to use in the coming weeks. I was in denial for a while, but I have finally reached acceptance... Next year will be better. It has too. Right?

Try to reach out to the resort. If they can make snow on the training area, your girls will still have a blast.

I’m going to Breckenridge next week. Not even planning to ski. But I will be eating well and having a good time.

Resorts aren’t making snow this late in the season. Especially training areas

Acceptance has also come for me at Bachelor.

Sunday actually, when I hit my head so hard I lost my helmet in a concussion.

Helmet is still missing. I imagine it saved my life.

It’s firm and fast and I like to fly. Landings were terrible and I got my due.
