I love visiting a zoo when traveling. What are the best or your favorites in the US?

Miami was the best modern zoo. Trying to make the animals seem as if in their original environment.

My feelings on zoos and aquariums are that if you've seen one, you've seen them all. I've been to various ones all over the country that are all claimed to be the best and they all seem the same to me.

Zoos are prisons for wildlife. With that said, Lincoln Park may be the best one I’ve been to.

I prefer natural history museums.

San Diego and the National Zoo in DC are the best I’ve been too. If you count them as a ‘Zoo’ , Animal Kingdom and Bush Gardens are great as well.

I don't know if it is one of the best, but I really enjoy the Denver Zoo.

National Zoo is my favorite. I saw a gorilla piss in its hand, look at it long enough for a women to say “Oh no he’s not”, then he slurped it down.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs is very unique. Lots of feeding opportunities (for a nice fee of course) and animals walking around (penguins, wallabies, etc).

Obviously because it gives you a feel for the local mammal, flora and fauna.

Zoo's are essential for preserving the existance some species. There are animals at your local zoo that are no longer found in the wild.

I remember loving the San Diego Wild Animal Park growing up. Even more so than the zoo.

The San Diego zoo is the best I've ever been to by far. The runner up would be St. Louis, which is also free, if I'm recalling correctly.

Memphis' is good but a level below those two.
