Can I do Athens and maybe a Greek island in 4 nights?

Planning a trip to Egypt, but I also want to do one to Greece. If I do one, I will not be able to take my family for at least several years to the other (if ever). I am planning on 9 nights in Egypt… I could do 10 then fly home OR I could head to Athens and fly home from there after a few nights. It is a 3 hour flight between them.
I would obviously want to return to Greece one day, and perhaps I could combine it with Turkey in 12-14 nights (combined and finish up enough of Greece).
Would a 4 night Greek trip be worth my while?

For sure. You can do 2 night in Athens and 2 nights somewhere like Milos and it would definitely be worth it.
I recommend doing something other than Mykonos or Santorini. I also recommend not going far, so limit your travel time to a couple hours. Try and hop on one of the quick ferries.

I hope so because I am planning to do just that before a cruise that leaves from Athens. I have not booked it yet. but our first choice right now is the Island of Hydra, because of its proximity to the Athens port. It is a short ferry ride away.

2 nights in Athens is plenty. I recommend not backtracking through Athens. You can fly in/out of Santorini to several big airports. Santorini is awesome, especially Oia. It gets stupid crowded for a few hours per day with the cruise passengers taking selfies and watching the sunset. If you stay in Oia, it’s empty in the morning and your terrace will provide personal space while the crowds sit on the sidewalks.

Absolutely it could be done. 2 nights in Athens is plenty and grab ferry or flight to an island for 2 nights. If you want to chill out and relax on one of the nicest beaches in Greece I would suggest Naxos. It’s about a 40 min flight from Athens.
I’m interested in your Egypt trip. I very badly want to see the pyramids but with political unrest I am very hesitant.

Fly into Athens. Go to the port of Rafina. Take the ferry to Andros. Spend 3 nights there. Head back to Athens. See the Acropolis in the afternoon. Hit up the plaka at night. Get the hell out of there the next day.

I'm going for spring break for 8 nights. I'll post a trip report here.

My wife and I spent a day and a night in Corfu. I would go back. Great beach and neat little town.

Four nights is going to feel a little hectic, but I would say still worth it.

You need maybe a day in Athens, we did Athens and Santorini as part of our honeymoon.
