A cruise or resort is the best kind of family vacation if you have children. On vacation, everyone wants to relax, eat well, and sleep a lot. When you choose an active type of recreation, you have to keep an eye on the children in parallel, think about travel routes, etc.
But if you choose a hotel with luxury accommodation near me, you can relax. I live in California; there are many good resorts here. Even The Eagles sang about our hotels, lol. If you can decide, contact me and I will advise you about good places to stay and some interesting sights.
The best guide to a city or region is a native.

OP do something your kids will actually remember. With that time frame, I'd suggest to fly into Kalispell and visit Glacier. Tetons and Yellowstone would be great as well at that time. Weather up there is amazing in late June/early July. Either way you'll come in well short of that budget, even with very nice accommodations, etc. Just my 0.02.
agree. my son was so amazed when we went out west that he moved to AZ after he graduated so he could visit southern utah anytime he wanted.
i can't even begin to describe how amazing it was to take the ol' 4runner down those 'roads' on the reservations and drive forever and never see anything resembling civilization.
drove down these switchbacks in canyonland
northeast AZ...somewhere...didn't see another human or vehicle for hours...you can tell LSU was in baseball playoffs.

I just don’t see how people keep going back to the destin/30a area. Sure, the beaches are pretty but the restaurants suck with shitty service and the entertainment options are brutal

destin/30a area.
So freakin played out. People are either too scared or lazy to try diff things. It’s really sad to me but as long as they’re happy whatever.

They need the sticker on their car to prove their mama bear status as entitled women. I live in Houston and the obsession is amazing.

Lol - I see them all over Atlanta and just shake my head.
Having said that, I have actually met a lot of people in Atlanta that actually moved to either Santa Rosa Beach, Destin, FWB or Panama City Beach and after a couple of years they were begging to move back so they did.
I know living in that area for 10 years, I could not wait to get out - glad I did.

don't consider Vegas kid friendly
You said this in the other thread and its crazy talk. Vegas has tons of cool stuff to do as a family with children.

How about Gatlinburg? I haven’t been there in probably 20 years but have been hearing great things about that place for a family / kid friendly vacation spot

Any of the big ski resorts out west have amazing hiking, mountain biking, outdoor concerts, mountain coasters, etc.

I agree with everyone saying Arizona and Utah. We just did a trip in April and it was the best trip we’ve taken and we can’t wait to go back. We flew into Phoenix and drove to the South Rim of the GC and stayed in a hotel for a couple of nights in the GC, then we drove to Kanab, UT and stayed there for 6 nights in an air bnb. It was a great central location. An hour to Zion and an hour and a half to Bryce. We also did UTV tours out of Kanab to see Peekaboo slot canyon and also the Great Chamber which was our favorite thing to do. Also in Kanab there is the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary which is really neat to visit and we even volunteered and was able to take a dog with us on a hike for a few hours. My daughter loved it!
There is so much to do that we weren’t able to fit it all in and are already planning a trip back.

What's the turnaround time on passports these days?
We went to courthouse on 3/20, had them in hand 5/26.

Passports took me 9 weeks and that was paying the expedited fees. $225 per passport for 9 weeks. Received mine last week.

With that budget, definitely look into some of the US territories. Virgin Islands was a great trip, recommend staying in St. John.
Also, I’d do some more research on it but I believe you can drive (not fly) into Canada without passports for kids 16 & under- just need to show birth certificates. Again, not sure how accurate that info is but I read that recently.

Last family trip we did was we went to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. The highlight of the trip was white water rafting for a day. It is being regarded as the best family vacation we have her had. And we have taken some great ones.

Want a "once in a lifetime experience" for kids that age?
Go to Sliding Rock in North Carolina.
Sliding Rock is a small slide-type waterfall on Looking Glass Creek, in the Pisgah National Forest, near Brevard, North Carolina. It has a gentle slope and is about 60 feet long, ending in a large, deep pool (between 6–8 feet deep) at the bottom.
Rent a cabin in nearby Brevard. Nice little town with some restaurants and shops. Tons of things to do in the Pisgah National Forest. Hiking. Camping. Picnicking. Go tubing on the Davidson River.
Drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Dine, or even stay, at the Pisgah Inn.
Ashville is probably an hour away if you wanted to go. Some nice shops and restaurants. You could go see the Biltmore.
The area has it all. One of our favorite areas.
