Future Travel Plans with a COVID-19 Vaccine

I am in a women's travel group/blog (couple thousand members) and recently a question was posed that I am curious what this group thinks.
Question to the group: Could your travel habits change after the vaccine? For instance, some countries may implement a "health passport," where you have to show proof of a negative COVID test OR vaccine. Would that make you more or less likely to visit?
It is an interesting question because... we DO already have immunization requirements for some countries, that we as US citizens must get prior to traveling there, and show that proof. So the concept is not a new one. I have no intent on getting this vaccine, at least not in the next several years.
Given that a lot of people on this board do travel internationally... will you get the vaccine to continue to visit certain countries? Or will you stop going there due to having to get a vaccine?
I had big plans for 2020 international travel, and still hope to resume in 21, 22 etc... but not knowing what vaccine requirements will be, I am now a little discouraged.
Thoughts?

Domestic only for the foreseeable future plus canada if they open their border for driving or mexico if I want international.
I haven't gotten a covid test yet and don't plan on getting one to travel so there's places in the US that are out like Aspen, NY, etc. Plenty of places here that I still haven't seen.

I have zero problem getting a vaccinaction, and zero problem showing documentation of such a thing. My employer is on record as requiring everyone to get it once it’s available. I show a passport when entering/exiting, so it’s no different from any other travel document, to me. I cannot imagine serious, frequent international travelers squawking about this: most have endured jabs for yellow fever or typhoid, or taken anti malaria pills, depending on the destination.
I’ve been Covid tested at least four times by employer, and we will continue testing in the spring thru summer, or until vaccine is widespread.
Pandemic has made me more conscious of health coverage when traveling.

My thoughts align 100% with hungryone. I don't want to get COVID nor do I want to give it to someone else and I do love to travel. It a hole in my life right now.

My hang up with the vaccine is all of the unknown. Yellow fever and typhoid have been around for a very long time. We know a lot about them and developed proper medicine/vaccines to treat or prevent them. I don't feel like COVID-19 is the same. I seem to read every week how CDC edits and changes their views on the virus - how to treat it, prevent it, etc.
I have also had COVID-19 already and was totally fine, whole family fine. People hate the comparison but when I got the flu it was easily, ten times worse than when I got COVID-19. So, no, I am not rushing to get this vaccine. It will likely mean for me, I won't be able to travel anywhere it is required for quite some time.
I wouldn't be opposed to getting tested to travel to a specific place, but like Cuse said, there are plenty of places in the States on my list to still see. I've mapped them out for 2021 and will focus state side for a while.

Still plan to travel domestically. Actually spent most of this morning planning a family summer road trip out west.
Went to Cabo & Banff within the past year, so probably no plans for Canada or Mexico in the near future anyway.
Never been anywhere that had immunization requirements, so certainly won't be going anywhere that requires a Covid test or vaccine.

So are we. Had a cruise lined up in April and a trip to Austria this month. Rescheduled for November 2021 and hope to do both next year.
I'm tired of sitting around and want to travel. I'm getting the vaccine. I work for a healthcare company and have neighbor that is heading up some trials. They don't believe there is a problem with taking the vaccine (i.e. "dangerous" to take), it's just a matter if it will be effective or not. Trials are promising and we're seeing some companies try to get rapid approval from the FDA to begin distributions to the masses.
Now, it's going to be a tiering systems based upon things like are you a healthcare worker, at risk from pre-existing conditions etc. It is expected that a large percentage of the population will have access by maybe March of next year.
What other countries do is up to them. Think you can expect immunization requirements as noted. And there will be lags in which countries get the vaccine and what percentage of the population will get it.
Don't shoot me, but I've been told "back to normal" as we used to know it may be by 2023.
Whatever. I'm going to do it and get going when I can!

I'd travel with or without a vaccine, but country requirements could affect where I go depending on roll out. Plus, we'd like to have another kid soon so vaccine timelines are of interest to us as well as those possible travel requirements.
I would have flown more domestically during all this if it didn't come with strings attached, like my kid having to be held out of daycare.
I feel like I'm doing good spending money to keep people working.
Canceled Japan for November 2020 and replaced with Croatia in early June. Figured go with the place that is least likely to close/not allow Americans.
Tentative trip to Cancun in March depends on if my son can wear a mask/we figure out the childcare situation again. The rather unhelpful hurdles with my son have been the only real thing limiting me. He just turned two a couple weeks ago so now the mask thing is huge deal. It basically rearranged our Christmas travel and had to fly back early from Thanksgiving to avoid his birthday.
We've had his grandma fly in to watch him after previous trips.
We do what is asked of us while traveling.
The airports and planes are less crowded than the meat section at the grocery store.

I believe that at least in regards to traveling internationally. All countries will have different roll out plans.

Me and the wife didn't get to do our European 10 year anniversary trip this year due to COVID, so we definitively plan on going next year, hopefully.
We both plan on getting the vaccine when its made available to us. People really should read up more about mRNA vaccines and realize that they are not really new. We have decades of research with them.
The only thing that would stop us from traveling again would be continued shut downs.

I feel lucky to have a kid old enough to where the mask is not an issue and young enough to not have to wear one. You are definitely right in the cross hairs of pain in the arse with a 2 year old.

I would like to avoid this vaccine mostly because I don't like to take things I simply don't need... but I do foresee future road blocks because of this.
I can see Disney, as an example, requiring proof of vaccine to visit. Or other places - and us having to make the decision" ok, do we just skip all these things we really want to do... or get it.
But for as long as I can, I will wait. I also don't want to give it to my kids, and they get ALL their vaccines. I'm open to research and speaking with our Ped over it.

Its obviously up to you, but yeah, expect some roadblocks, especially when it comes to international travel
to me the vaccine is just like getting the flu shot
hell I'd get a vaccine for the cold if they would make one
I just hate getting sick

I sometimes waffle on if I want to introduce masks on him or not. It feels selfish to do so we can travel and see family a couple times but at the same time I'm not convinced we'll see mask mandates removed before the end of 2021 on airlines.
I think it's safe to say there will be at least 3 months of requirements past when they should have been removed.

I'll tell you what I would do, as frequent family travelers... I would go ahead and intro the masks. Get whatever superhero or Mickey Mouse, Barbies, whatever, plastered on a mask. And make some game of them wearing it "like mommy and daddy" now, to have to use in the future.
A 3 and 4 year old will be just as tough with masks as a 2, and I see airlines covering their arse for years to come and requiring masks.
It isn't traumatizing and won't hurt them, just make it something positive and get him used to it.

It won't have any impact on my travel. I'm going to be traveling as much as possible in 2021. I just took a trip overseas that required a covid test and a yellow fever vaccination card. Proof of vaccination is nothing new, people have to show that all the time for some destinations.

Would travel internationally this second if I could, but the places I want to go are still banning and/or requiring 15 day quarantine upon arrival.
Have flown about 40 times since July, all domestically, and zero concerns.
I have 0 plans to get the vaccine. I’ve never taken the flu vaccine and wouldn’t get this either. That may change eventually, but I’ll be avoiding places requiring proof of vaccine. Now a negative test, I’m ok with.

I don't really want to get the vaccination just yet, but have a feeling it will eventually be a requirement. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it either way.
I have no issue with traveling anywhere that allows it currently. We had big plans killed for this years international travel, like most here, but made up for it with some great domestic trips. We're already making plans for more domestic travel in 2021, unless things change quickly.
I do have travel to Japan expected in 2 months for work that they're telling me will include several Covid tests (have somehow managed to not get one at all yet) and 2 week quarantine in a hotel.
Really not how I wanted to get back going on international travel...

I'll stick to Hawaii and US ski locations for 2021. Just can't pull the trigger on international with the uncertainty. I'll vaccinate when it's available and look to travel again abroad in 2022
