I would say 6 full days minimum not counting travel days. If traveling from Louisiana get one of the morning flights out of Houston, Atlanta, Dallas that arrives around 2pm local time to best handle the time change. Can also sneak in a whole extra day by taking a red eye home that leaves after 7 pm.

IMO, at least 10 days with your travel plans.

It’s never enough for me. Going to Maui for 16 days in Feb and I still have the want to move there. Even if it’s just a few years.

10-14 days. It’s a haul and can be very expensive. Might as well maximize your time there.

This. Two days will be for traveling. At least four or five days on each island. I loved Oahu but I love the North Shore. We did four days on Maui the two times we have gone. I haven't been since the fires so I don't know how the island is now.

Everything is fine besides blocked off areas of Lahaina. Don’t ask the locals about it.

I totally agree about taking the late flight home. If you do this, make sure to book an extra night. This way you can do whatever you want during the day and get cleaned up before your flight home. We usually just relax on the beach or by the pool the last day, get cleaned up, go eat dinner and then head to the airport.

We went in '23 for 11 days.

6 on Oahu and 5 on The Big Island.

If you hit The Big Island definitely do the night snorkel with the Manta Rays. Amazing experience.

10 days minimal if doing 2 islands (which I recommend).

I’m going to piggyback on this thread.

If six days is enough, would fall or spring break be better?

The only must haves on my list is biking down the volcano and a helicopter ride around the lava fields.

Six days for two islands is not enough. Don't understand your question about fall or spring break.

Then just visit one island.

You could do it in 7 days if you wanted but I wouldn't recommend it.

I spent 5 nights in Maui last October. Travelling from the east coast with a several hour layover each way was brutal. When I go back, I would want to stay at least 7 nights especially if you're doing excursions like road to hana or sunrise/sunset at Haleakala etc.

If I was doing 2 islands I'd probably want a minimum of 10 nights.

Like others said, it’sa long haul and expensive, so plan 2 weeks and maximize your time over there. I went a few years back for 2 weeks and did Maui, Kauai, and Oahu. If I did it again, I would skip Oahu. Big city atmosphere on the south of the island, with some cool turn in the north. Instead of Oahu, do the big island.

I would do 7 days in Maui, 3 or 4 in Kauai and big island
