I'm planning to go visit a friend next weekend north of Houston and was thinking of going up a day early to stay a night and explore some areas of Houston a little.

In looking at the Hyatt Regency Downtown, Hyatt Regency Galleria, or the Hyatt Centric The Woodlands, do any of ya'll have any thoughts about which area is best?

I haven't been around much in the Houston area and just wanting to hang out a little. I know the Woodlands is nice in general so I just threw that into the mix.

All nice hotels, but your decision should probably be based on what area of town you intend to be in most of that day.

I live near the Hyatt in The Woodlands & work across the street from the Hyatt downtown.

Traffic can add substantial time if you'll be doing activities 30-40 miles away from the hotel.

Thanks.
Was just thinking of checking in Friday afternoon and being able to walk around and check out some sites and grab some food. Then more of the same Saturday morning.
Is the downtown location kind of isolated and more for a “business” traveler”?

If you're gonna want to walk around, of the 3, I'd pick downtown

I agree with downtown if you plan to sight see. Being centally located helps a lot. WHat interest do you have? That would narrow the search

It's in a good location for business travelers, but this side of downtown is dead on a Friday afternoon through the weekend. But this is the most central location, depending on if you plan to venture out by car very far.

I would recommend The Woodlands since that hotel is on Market Street & several options there or along the waterway to walk around or eat. Both indoor & outdoor.

Galleria option has the indoor mall if you prefer that.

Just fyi, the Woodlands isn’t Houston. It’s like staying on the Northshore to go explore NOLA.

Yeah I know. Seemed like a nice property so I threw it in the mix for consideration.
I should have worded the OP better

On points? If not, I’d bail on Hyatt properties and do Hotel Zaza.

Hyatt Downtown is fine for business but that’s not where you wanna be to explore. Or get an AirBnb in Montrose as a base.

Yeah I have 100k in Hyatt points so didn’t mind wasting some for a little one night stay on my way to where I’m going.
Thanks for all the responses.
