Try to hit the Mission Trail of San Antonio and see all the missions. It’s part of the National Park/Monument system I think. The Alamo was one of them. There are various missions in various states. I loved it and loved the Alamo.

No it’s not. It’s not small but its metro area is 24th in the US
I really wish people would grasp this concept of city vs metro. The metro is a better measure.
Who cares abt the city measure when the land size distorts that number.

Youre missing the point that was clearly made about city vs. metro.
You need to look at land size for each city to put in perspective.

Heading home right now, the whole family had a lot of fun walking around the riverwalk, first time I had ever been there, walked around the mall, the tower of the Americas at night was cool, kids really enjoyed it

We didn’t miss the point. But nobody judges city size by land size. That’s just not a thing.

Again, completely over your head. SA has over a million people bc of how much land it takes up. So it ranks 7th for a city. That means nothing and a better measure is metro area where SA is much lower, in the upper 20s. It's a small city.

Dude, you’re on crack.
We understand what you’re trying to say but it’s not a proper measure and in no way is enough to dismiss San Antonio as a small city. GTFOH with that.

Metro area is not the proper measure? But, it is for anything that matters. Business decisions, sports, etc... matters how big your metro is. Hence Dallas gets more businesses and restaurants and sports teams than SA. Metro means more.

Fberg - Pacific War Museum. Let your wife go to wineries.
NB - tube the river, Schlitterbaun with your kids. Natural Bridge Caverns is on the way from SA to NB.

I hope you actually went in the Alamo and learned about the history. Yes, the area around it is just all the touristy crap that's in every tourist area. Yes, the Alamo is so much smaller than expected. But it tells a story that shouldn't be forgotten. Additionally, you can see how life inside a mission was back then in the 1700s.
San Antonio isn't like Houston or Dallas because it's much older. There's a lot of history there.

The other missions (on the mission “trail”) are more impressive than the Alamo from an architecture perspective. And less crowds.

Why? The best breakfast tacos in Texas are all over San Antonio.

Good feedback, thanks. This itinerary was proposed by a friend so not set in stone.

San Antonio is the second largest city in Texas and the 3rd largest metro in Texas. It's also growing like crazy.

Saturday lunch, if you're around the Alamo, go to Southtown. Pretty much every restaurant is good, starting a block south of Alamo. Nonna/Silo are good. Across the street is Dough pizza. Further down on St. Mary's Maverick is pricier, but the food is good. Le Fritte is a Belgian mussels restaurant. Liberty Bar has burgers and a bunch of different kinds of food. Hot Joy is good. Bar Loretta. Hard to find a bad meal down there.

so that always makes San Antonio worth the trip.
You have low standards, and probably view something like 30A as a once in a lifetime vacation.
SA is trash, and not worth driving to compared to Austin, Houston, and Dallas. It's one of the worst drives possible, even from Houston, let alone Louisiana. Hours, and hours, and hours, driving directly into the sun. No.
