Been to Vegas twice in 2012 and 2014 in my early 20's.
Loved it and the big draw for me was sports betting and the atmosphere during the College Bowls/National Championship and Wild Card/Divisional weekend in the NFL (was there for both on different trips).
Now I can do that on my phone. If I want the atmosphere of a Book I'm on the Mississippi Coast around 6 times per year. No it's not the same but it's still really fun and not expensive.
I loved Vegas but I can put it in the "been there/done that" category and can happily go the rest of my life without going back.

My wife took our 19 year old (no pics) there in July for a long weekend to see Lady Gaga. She said she said it was very crowded. They had reservations for meals but she said they would have been absolutely necessary.
Neither had been there in more than a decade but she claims while expensive it was super busy.

It’s been written for years that Vegas is in decline. Nope. They will continue to overcharge and people will gladly pay

Hot or Nashville Hot? That will be an extra $2 please.
This exact list of items is $17 at my son's HS concession stand.

It seems to be that Vegas is going through the same thing Disney has done the last decade. Overpriced, nickel and dime everything, continuing to raise prices so you know out a few loyal customers, but make up for it with the ones that stick around for higher rates.
The feedback I heard from people who went to Vegas for the LSU game has been about what I read here: something you got for free/cheap before COVID now costs you an absurd amount. I have never been and have no desire to go, but the idea of blowing a ton of money for the sake of blowing a ton of money isn't appealing.
I have also heard that even though almost all restaurants are of good quality, it is essentially the only way you can eat. Not sure if there are few grocery stores of hotels make it inconvenient to attempt to cook. I also cannot recall Vegas ever being a family vacation destination as long as I have been an adult.

Not at all. Get off of the strip and things are way more reasonable

That’s standard operating at Hard Rock Hollywood. And every fricking seat is packed.

Vegas is full of coporate idiots, and instead of lowering prices trying to get people back, they raised rates and resort fees.
i went many years ago for ncaa tourney, have zero plans to go back. can do all of that shite in comfort of home, or drive 20 minutes to get all the action i need, w/o being robbed by hotel and other fees

Posting a receipt with your name on it and a shitty tip, bold move

Might be an issue in cash games, not really in the tournaments I play

Been a number of times. Was there last year at the seasons start.
Don’t think I’ll ever go back.

$25 -$50 minimum blackjack in just about every casino doesn't help the cause. Vegas is going to price itself out of business.
This right here. Last time I was in Vegas, at peak hours they had exactly one $25 Black Jack table open. Every seat packed with people all around waiting to grab the next seat. All the other tables at higher stakes were basically empty with dealers just standing there doing nothing. Made zero sense.

TBH, Vegas isn't worth going to anymore. Went there during the spring, and stayed 3 nights at the El Cortez. It wasn't bad, but still had to wait on some cheaper minimum bet tables. Mostly played 3 card poker. Gotta go off the beaten path to find the hole in the wall places to eat, and much more reasonable with good portions.

Agreed - I wont ever go back unless it's a company event or I'm going to see a concert at The Sphere that I just cant live without seeing (which at this point I can't imagine who that would be).

Have you seen some of the trashy people in Vegas ? Its really got bad in the last 10 years and I think higher pricing is an attempt to change the trend.

Legalization of sports betting was the nail in the coffin for Vegas. Why fly out there just to go gambling when you can drive 15-20 minutes to the nearest casino?

What’s interesting is that while tourism has been declining more and more people are moving there to live permanently
It’s mostly SoCal retirees who want to get away from CA taxes while still being close to their roots.
