My family is wanting to take a long weekend trip to New Orleans

The plan would be drive down on Thursday, go home Sunday. Trip will be typical tourist stuff. I, of course, want a day at the WWII museum. My wife wants to do a riverboat tour. My daughter wants to do one of the cemetery tours. Then there’s Cafe du Monde and the standard stuff. I’m hesitant due to the deteriorating crime situation there though. We haven’t been there since 2017. How is it during the daytime? What areas should we avoid?
Right now I’m thinking if we do this we will get a hotel outside of the city and only venture in during daylight hours. Advice??

This will end well.
Not knowing how many are in your family, it may be easier to get a hotel in the warehouse district. You can easily walk down to the quarter during the day time, WW2 museum or get an Uber/drive to other locations that you intend on visiting. Reality is, don’t be anywhere near the quarter after 6 or just be aware of your surroundings.

Myself: .44 Spc
Wife: .38 Spc
Son: 9mm
MIL: 9mm
