Looking to plan a trip for next summer for me, Mrs jkyle, two stepsons (12&14), and my son (4). We have made this trip before but usually just end up getting a hotel. So far Activities would include a day (or two ) at Schlitterbahn, floating the comal river , possibly Guadelupe (it’s my favorite but youngest may not be old enough ), then maybe a day in San Antonio at sea world and river walk .

Wondering if anyone can recommend any good cabins, houses, condos. Not wanting to go the hotel route this time. Preferably on the comal and close to schlitterbahn. Thanks in advance.

Float the Comal. Cooler, spring fed water. Always full, not subject to drought.

I typically stay in Austin and drive back and forth.

We just got back from Hyatt hill country resort in San Antonio. We only went to new braunfels one day, did Comal float with Texas tubes and it was awesome… it has 3 chutes where you go down some rapids like a water slide… wife and 5 year old got out and walked around big chute, me and 8 year old went down it. Ate at gristmill and was back at resort by 3 to go swimming. But Airbnb looked good if you’re focusing activities in NB, they have some condos on the river you can rent

I keep seeing Hyatt hill country mentioned on here and kinda raved about. My only concern is 5 of us staying there in one room . Activities would be kinda split between San Antonio and NB so we could make it work if the rooms would suffice. I’d rather not have to rent two rooms there. Would be two adults , 12 , 14, and 4 year old. How is the little water park there ? The place looks really cool I must say .

DjRett,

The little cabins in gruene look really cool. How big are they ? Would they fit 5 of us. Love that area and Gristmill restaurant.

I don't know about room size, etc. But just know it's about a hour, maybe more depending on traffic from the Hyatt resort to New Braunfels. Definitely doable, but just wanted you to be aware that you'll have some travel time.

They have a large pool with a separate hot tub, basketball goal, connects to a large lazy river that takes about 15 minutes to go around. The pool has waiters that circle around and you can order drinks and food. They have a separate adult only pool. They have one large water slide. Then they have the flow rider surf/boogey board machine.

We had a suite that was huge, 2 rooms, our boys were only 8 and 5 and slept on the couch bed. Would still have had enough room for 1 or 2 rollaway beds. Might be cheaper than suite to get 2 rooms though. I used points for 5 nights but it’s not cheap.

There are 5 restaurants I think, food was good. They light fire pits and do s’mores every night. We didn’t use the golf course.. they have driving range and putting/chipping green too. Free use of bikes, they have tennis, ping pong, corn hole, sand volleyball.

We had a blast, we were going to go to sea world one day but we were having too much fun at the resort.
