Alaska, Hawaii, and Mississippi. Not necessarily in that order.

Paired with Louisiana look like skid marks on a pair of underwear.

I love living in Oregon. But Utah really stood out to me on the drive out here. Incredible scenery in that state.

Alaska for sheer beauty
California for diversity

I think this is a good way to put it.

Arizona needs to be thrown in mix. The Grand Canyon and Sedona area are breathtaking.

I think Arizona is a gorgeous state but a little overrated. The Grand Canyon is a superstar, of course, but I think Utah to the north is (overall) more scenic in spite of not being as hyped.

I guess I am one of the few who things Washington is more scenic than Oregon.

North Cascades, massive volcanoes, Olympic range, Puget Sound.

I would rank Hawaii, California, and Montana above Colorado.

You greatly overrate Idaho. Oregon and Washington both top it easily (coast, active volcanoes). It’s an unfair advantage, but one nonetheless.

I’m a biased fifth generation Washingtonian, but Oregon has the better developed coast (our wildernesses coast crushes theirs), Crater Lake, and Alford Desert / Steens Mountain that keep things close between the two states. Eastern Oregon is more interesting than most of eastern Washington for example. The Missoula Floods flattened much of south central WA, and if it weren’t for Grand Coulee Dam and the massive Columbia Basin reclamation project, it would be flat sage brush instead of potato, mustard, onion, etc. irrigated agriculture.

Haven't been to AK yet

For me, MT, with WY close behind for "wow" scenery. The diversity of CA is hard to beat though. We're pretty damn lucky to have so much amazing scenery and nature in this country to choose from.

Out of all the states that I have visited I would say Colorado. Most below the Mason-Dixon line.
I spent 6 weeks in Colorado during the summer of 1986 and went through out the whole state.

Its really not a bad flight. Just two hours from Seattle and you're in JNU or Anchorage. On a nice day, it's like flightseeing.

Everyone should visit at least once, and not on a large ship.

Washington is hard to beat too.

Beaches and ocean on the west side with the purger sound..mountains in the middle with beautiful alpine lakes.
