I have been reading online that there have been a few instances where everyone sits in their assigned seats, and then shortly after takeoff people sitting in the back attempt to move forward into the empty seats.

I didn't experience it on my flight back in December, but I've read a lot of complaints around flights being delayed bc people aren't checking bags now that theres a fee, resulting in them having to check at the gate.

I've only flown once since they implemented all the changes and it was relatively smooth.

Co-worker flew last week. He's A-list preferred. Was in Group 2 and had extra leg room seat. Said the boarding was seemingly slower but less chaotic. He also took a pic of leg room. He had enough room to cross his legs in front of him and not touch the seat.

The easy answer is to carry on less shite, so you have less stress about overhead space.
An even easier answer is to mind your own fricking business.

priority boarding

Why is everyone in such a hurry to get on a plane with an assigned seat?

I'm typically on of the last on the plane when flying united, etc. Sometimes there is no overhead space but get check isnt that bad.

Reports seem to indicate the pre board issue was fixed for about 4 days but is back now.

Turns out pre boarding wasn’t about seat selection, but about overhead bin access.

Nah, the mass pre-boarders were never carrying on roller bags, it was all about seat selection.

I'd imagine its just engrained in the SW culture and will take a while for it to go away.

Flew Thurs night msy-mco. Flight about 2/3 full

I was on points and was in group 8. Only 4 of us in group 8

No preboarders no priority boarders. 5 people group 1, 2 in group 2

Vast vast majority were in groups 3-4. Few in group 6. No one in group 5 or 7.

Guess everyone getting their credit card…

No problems with bin space but again plane was only 2/3 full.
