Anyone been to universal studios Orlando recently ? Wondering how they are handling COVID restrictions, how crowded or long lines are. Thanks.

I know most weekends the past month or so it's been reaching capacity in the mornings.

I was there a couple of months ago. I believe they have reached capacity every day for the last week or so. Masks are required at all times, except when eating or drinking (and you must be stationary). However, they are not as strict as Disney on the mask requirements.
Unlike Disney, Universal is still offering their version of Fastpass (Universal Express). As long as you have Express (which you have to pay for unless you’re staying at Portofino Bay, Hard Rock, or Royal Pacific), the lines shouldn’t be too bad.

We went for 4 days in November and stayed at the Royal Pacific. The Universal Fast Pass was a game changer. The only attraction where we had to wait in line for more than 20 minutes or so was Hagrid’s Magical Creatures, because Fast Pass isn’t accepted. We did the virtual line for that. It helped somewhat, but we still had to wait, sometimes 45 minutes to an hour. The parks reached capacity every day we were there, with Islands of Adventure filling up first. Overall, I was impressed with how well Universal handled the situation.

Went last week for one day (Christmas Eve) and it was very busy. I'm not sure what capacity is compared to Disney, but we bumped into more people at Universal in the first 30 mins, than we had at 5 days in Disney parks.
We enjoyed everything Harry Potter, but to me it wasn't worth the money.
I may get downvoted for this but going from Disney one day and Universal the next is like going from Nordstrom to Walmart.

I was there the Friday before Halloween for one day. Stayed at Royal Pacific the night before to get the Unlimited Express Pass and early entry. Went to both parks and rode everything we wanted to ride, most of them 2x each. We rode Hagrid's ride first and then two other times, and we never waited longer than 30 minutes to get on. Personally, I would not do Universal without the express pass, but the normal lines didn't seem to bad for it being a Friday. If you have two days you can get away with staying one night at Royal Pacific and get the Express Pass for both days.

Was there two weeks ago. Not too crowded and lines were short enough. They did reached capacity everyday but people on property can always get in.

Here at universal now. Lines are long and it’s pretty crowded. Park reached capacity both mornings before 9am.

We are debating going February 13-18th because they have buy 2 get 3 free park tickets. It would be wife and I, plus 2 kids (6 and 9). Do y'all think we need a meal plan and express passes? It looks like we would be staying at the endless summer resort - dockside inn.
Also... Is it cheaper to just book everything online, or do y'all use travel agents or anything?

We went mainly for the HP rides and the wait for those were 30-45 minutes. Some of the other rides got up to 70+ minutes though. The lines seem to move faster than the listed wait time from my experience

Yeah the wait times for me were way off. I think they are calibrated for the last person in line and are not taking into account the 6 foot distance in between groups. For example, the hulk was listed at 70 minutes and we waited for 30.

Not if you are mainly concerned with rides.
