Been in Spain (Seville) since April. Everthing is fine from a covid standpoint. Places closed for the August holiday, and some have closed permanently due to the econimoc fall-out of the pandemic. But, for now, coronavirus is not an issue. Be prrpared to mask though. People here take it seriously.

Awesome. Bought a plane ticket to Madrid. Early October. What cities should I visit with 8 full days?

Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, and Granada are all great places. Really haven't made our way north yet. Also, when you get to Seville, its not that far to access Portugal. The train service in Spain is fantastic and very affordable (you can readily travel to the 4 places I mentioned by train). The food & drink in Spain is unreal and the prices are jaw dropping (other than Barceloea which tends to be more expensive). Went out last night to a great tapas bar. Had more food than we could finish, a bottle of very good wine, and 2 cocktails. Total bill (you don't tip in Spain) was 30 euros (about $33 in USD).
