The magic of NIL... You can write a check to match at least a couple years of pay.

No one in college baseball should be getting money that matches a first round bonus though… the economics don’t support it

The economics are a collective, not the income of the baseball program. If someone wants to give him 200k to come play, oh well. Doesn't cost LSU anything.

"the economics don't support it". How do you know this? It is apparent with the amount of players removing themselves from the draft that you are wrong.

LSU bid a reported $250,000/yr for Louisville infielder Gavin Kilen, the Most Ever for a LSU Baseball Player (NIL). Schmidt's 'slot-value' was $4,704,700! Pretty sure LSU isn't paying nearly that for Schmidt! He's just wanting to come play in Baton Rouge, if he turned down $4 million +. The guy bleeds Purple & Gold...

Fastball is wild. His best pitch is 12 to 6 curve ball. Gets strikeouts on swing and misses. Short story fastball needs to be more controlled. Before you start bashing me go watch his game highlights. I watch him throw 15 to 20 pitch inning and he threw 1 called strike.

I’ve only seen him pitch once - in the high school playoffs. His fastball does need improved control. He can sling it though.

Oh shite, really?! A teenage high school kid isn’t absolutely perfect at his craft?! Might as well throw him in a dumpster. Thanks for enlightening us.

16th rated player in the MLB draft....Sorry but the guys who know what they are talking about rank him that high, he has to have some good stuff with big potential. I'll take their word over a fan who watched him have a bad inning.

Players cannot remove their names from the MLB draft. It’s not like the NFL or NBA drafts. A team can still draft him. And if the money is right, he can sign.

We all know what is meant. It's basically putting their name on a "do not draft" list. You can draft them at your own risk, but you'll be wasting a pick.

Not true they now can officially remove themselves since the last couple of seasons

That would have been drafted ahead of any current player on the roster….
