After finishing the Pax Arcana series (really enjoyed it), I'm reading the Mercedes Thomspon series (both are urban fantasy).
It's not bad (not as good as Iron Druid, Dresden, Alex Verus or Pax), but I can definitely tell it's written by a woman.
The stories are creative with some interesting factional politics coming into play and lots of interesting lore interspersed throughout, but the amount of emotional angst over relationships (potential or realized) has become parts I just gloss over.

The first novel in the series is called Hard Landing. I haven't read anything from the author outside this series. Yet.

Here’s a random one for yall.
Winterdance by Gary Paulson. It’s about his decision to try, training for, and running the Iditarod and it’s hilarious.
You’ll read it in two sittings and be glad you did.

When a Crocodile eats the Sun by Peter Godwin. About the downfall of Zimbabwe after the revolution under Mugabe. It’s fricking hard to read. Such a cluster frick.

Took a bit to really get going but I’ll finish it today trying to get to the end. Some decent twists.

Disquiet Gods, sun eater series book six. Complex writing. This is not pablum for the science fiction masses and can be a challenge to read. I’m having to reread sentences and paragraphs sometimes, but boy do I love this series. It’s really breathtaking in scope, both temporally and geographically.
