It's just odd. He's not old and at one time seemed to be a truly elite coach.
Once the money from the NewSpring Church went away when they went bust in 2016; the decline at Clemson went right in line with it.
Not sure why Dabo was so against NIL, it was already in play with the relationship a NewSpring.

I still can't believe that dude took the HC at Arkansas and couldn't even be bothered to move his family to Fayetteville

Dabo is the most epic right place right time stars aligning HC in sports history. He is and always has been a complete imposter and a huge piece of shite. It's going to be really really ugly over there when this comes to a head

My opinion is that he really doesn't want a part of coaching anymore, but he's not going to throw away the rest of that money on his contract. The game is different now, and he jist doesn't want to adapt to it.

he's a hypocrite for sure but the difference is the church gave him an edge as a willing money launderer. They're on more equal footing with everyone else when the money is legitimate.
Dabo was clearly right guy, right time at Clemson. He's not an awful coach but might be best served going the Mullen route, take a smaller job with less expectations, and just coach football

Dabo won with great coordinators and great culture. Sure, he recruited well, but he had kids buying into that program and developing over years. He can't maintain in the NIL era and he hasn't been able to get top coordinators to replace guys he lost.

Dabo was never an elite coach. Dabo was a benefactor of strong coordinators and two generational QBs back to back.

Was this a plot in Righteous Gemstones? If it isn't, it fricking should be.

His drop off almost doesn't make sense.
He adamantly refused to adapt to the changing landscape of CFB. He brought it on himself.

He was THERE and the players loved him when their (?Bowden) got fired. Easy advancement.
Then along came Kiffin (IIRC) to Tennessee and the QB who had been recruited to TN was told he wouldn't fit the TN scheme so dude went to Clemson and became very successful.
From there, Clemson had the rep of being the place to be. Said rep is less than it was (thanks to Kiffin).
