Who's to say he's not? LSU wasn't going to hire (or at least announcing hiring) anyone until the regular season ends. I highly doubt LSU is just sitting around doing nothing, hoping Kiffin agrees to be their HC. If so, Verge should be canned now before he's even started.

I don’t see how people are reading this any other way. There is zero reason to hold off on any announcement if the announcement is that he’s staying. Just make the announcement and relieve all of the stress/distractions from your current school.
He’s gone, but they want to let him finish out the regular season.

Idk how anyone could be thinking that’s a good sign for Ole Miss. If he was staying then they’d just say he’s staying and end all the distractions. Dragging it out doesn’t make any sense to me.
