That can only mean Fickell, inexplicably turned them down. Swarbrick seems like a smart dude; there is no way he didn’t go after Fickell first.

I have to be honest, I found it pretty disappointing how the LSU team gave no welcome whatsoever when Brian Kelly walked in the room to introduce himself

Totally different situations. The LSU players don't know Brian Kelly and they'd just be acting like fanboys if they celebrated him walking into the room. Also, even though we know he was a train wreck, those guys are still loyal to O and probably feel partly responsible for him getting fired (not their fault, I know).

ND players were all actively campaigning for Freeman to get the job, so of course they're fired up for their guy.

He didn't recruit any of them and they all probably love Orgeron.

So awesome

I know their fans and players were tired of being in the national title hunt every year and were relieved Kelly left so hopefully this works out well for them

So many teams have gone undefeated and won NCs when the players get to weigh in on the HC search.

We just hired one of the best coaches in football. Why would I have sour grapes ?

I think it’s comical how Notre dame fans are spinning it like a good thing that their all time wins leader is leaving

Now THAT is sour grapes

Didn’t his players already know who he was?

Exactly. You guys need to stop with the Freeman hate.

Someone posted an awesome video, and you had to bring up this BS.

Not salty at all. Laughing at Notre dame people trying to tell us how they’re glad Kelly left them

When the coach who has the most wins in program history leaves when you’re 11-1 and on verge of a playoff birth…yea that’s a great thing lol

Just really glad we could take Coach Kelly off their hands

Based on the video below, this looks like their stadium locker room. This would mean that Freeman comes out of the door that leads to the field, where the famous "Play Like A Champion Today" sign is.

ESPN's Maria Taylor ND facilities tour -- 2018

Here is another video of their indoor practice facility. It's pretty similar to the one LSU has prior to the locker room, weight room, and other amenities upgrades we made a couple of years ago.

2019 Video of ND's indoor practice facility

Pretty clear LSU has superior facilities, but it's not as lopsided as many might think.

Congrats on winning the press conference
Your first head coaching job is at the toughest place to coach in the country
Good luck!

reminded me of the Matt Luke announcement to the Ole Miss players too

Although I don't recall a video, this was the reaction of the players as they all wanted Mike Archer to be hired after Bill Arnsparger left for Florida.

It is possible that Woodward made a colossal mistake by hiring Kelly. Maybe he should have hired a younger guy more seemingly in-tune with today’s college athlete.

I guess we will see.

Kelly definitely has his work cut out for him, because Orgeron left him a destroyed culture and too few good players.

Players did similar at West Virginia when Bill Stewart got the job. I know people want to overplay this, but player excitement has little to do with future success. In fact, more times than not it leads to disaster.

If you go by players like even Burrow, O would still be coach.

Not really Fickell is in a playoff run. Let’s not jump to conclusions
