He ain't elite when he couldn't hack in the Big 12 and only has to work for 2 games a year at Clemson. I think Venables can't even hold Dave Aranda's headset.

He was their Co-DC in ‘03 when they had a top 2 defense

So they decided to dump him years later?

And he’s a lunatic. That crazy doesn’t work well for a HC

Because his cracker jack defense is suspect.
lol, ok.

I thought he did a hell of a job Monday night. Way more 3-and-outs for us than usual.

He's enjoying a lifestyle right now that you don't see in coaching. He gets to raise his kids in one place and make great money.

I saw him and Dabo a couple of summers ago eating at a nice restaurant on the veranda and surrounded by their kids. I think he has had opportunities but, again, it's a lifestyle decision.

Maybe he has a passion for crushing inferior offenses.

Man. I was hoping a Bama fan wouldn't show up and sound as ignorant as LSU fans, but here we are.

Bama scored 16 in the championship game last year. We can sit this one out.

Then why is everyone leaving LSU?

He has some secret baggage from his time at KSU. Or so I have heard. The KC sports radio guy has mentioned a half dozen times over the years. They never say what it is, but bad enough he is untouchable. And some others in the know hint they know as well. So i always go back to that when this topic gets brought up.

He just spent 6 hours in the limelight on ESPN. If he can be under that microscope, he can be under a HC one.

A GA is leaving, an assistant is going to the NFL, and a DC to HC.

I just don't think Venables wants to be a head coach. Several years in a row he was mentioned for just about EVERY HC opening, yet, he never went anywhere. Maybe he's made it known he's not interested in being a HC at this time.

this has nothing to do with the OP's question...Clemson has won 2 out of the 6 possible National Title games and has played in 4 of them...LSU wins 1 and our DC bolts(Maybe)...The mystery is still that a mystery on how they have held onto him for this long...same way as to how they keep there jrs from leaving early unless high 1st round projections are graded to them

Wonder if they'd agree that the defense has been a steaming pile of shite since he left?
