Not sure he’d leave LSU for any other job. If he was that in demand then that would mean he’s winning well at LSU.

Id say he is already in that demand

Do you have a crystal ball? Because, you would never truly know that with anybody, until the time comes.

Personally, I don't want Kiffin because of this type of scenario. Every time a big school has a vacancy his name will appear, and LSU would have to give a raise and extension.

For this hypothetical scenario, I think you put in clause he can't go to an SEC school If he does, he has to repay the remaining sum of his contract. This won't fly but you have to CYA.

If he’s still at Ole Miss and hasn’t won a natty, I could see him possibly going to Bama.

If he’s at LSU, I don’t think he would leave unless it was due to a soured relationship with LSU admin or meddling from the governor. LSU has all the resources as Bama and he doesn’t have to live in the shadow of Bear and Saban. He can win 2 or 3 titles at LSU and we’d be building a statue and calling him the GOAT. It he only wins 2 or 3 at Bama, their fans will point out that Saban and Bear both won 6

I think the problem with Lane is he will always be mentioned for other jobs including nfl

Yes. He absolutely would leave to bama in that case. I don’t think you should hire Lane but at the same time I think you should hire Lane.

Why would Kiffin be any more or less likely to jump to Alabama than any other coach LSU might hire, unless your argument is that LSU should hire a less desirable coach?

The point of the question is do we crown a king of LSU with wandering eyes, or do we find someone who can give us what we desire, and also has no interest to leave because the market has less pull than his loyalty?

Who exactly do you think LSU could get that would be “loyal” to LSU? By definition, they’re bringing in someone who isn’t “loyal” to their current school.

You can easily avoid this scenario by offering the job to Frank Wilson.

Nick Saban had multiple opportunities to leave Alabama for LSU and he didn't.

That should tell you all you need to know.

tells me as he got older and settled, he stopped job hopping. whats your point? he wasn't going to leave bama for lsu when miles was fired 9 years into his bama tenure, or even 4 years later when O was fired. no one with common sense thought he was coming here after establishing himself at bama. people need to stop judging entire fanbases off of about 2% of message board echo chamber garbage.

no one now realistically thought he was coming. it was message board fodder for clicks and traffic. and it was fun to watch.

There are some influential Bama boosters who have threatened to cancel all support if Kiffin is ever hired.

Desperation can change opinions though…we had Boosters who previously heavily interfered with the program and who I never thought would step back, relinquish any expectations for influence to get Saban.

Fair but he built a dynasty at Alabama. Saban wasn’t leaving for any job. So with your logic, Alabama is the best job in the country which isn’t true

I wouldn’t expect Lane to bolt to Bama if he was at LSU. What resources does Bama have that LSU doesn’t? Honest question.

I don't think anyone has illusions that Kiffin is here for more than 4-5 years at best. He will always have a wandering eye whether that's to another college job or the NFL

If he is still at Ole Miss, yes.

If he is at LSU or UF and has the program rolling, I don't think he leaves for Bama.

The difference between Ole Miss and LSU/UF is much more significant than LSU/UF vs. Bama.

I think that jobs like Texas, USC, LSU, Bama are all on the same tier and would be a tough choice for any candidate. However, I think once you secure one of these positions, I don’t think any provide enough upside to uproot and start over within the tier.
