quote:so O has only known about having to replace his OC for 48 hours...is that what you are saying?
They’ve had an open OC position for less than 48 hours

No I said they’ve had an open OC position for less than 48 hours. I believe you quoted it.

So is there any advantage to LSU to not announce Steve E as the new OC tomorrow?

I can't think of any meaningful ones.
ETA: Unless its to simply have interviewed others and then say hey we interviewed others and SE was the best! He's a stable genius!

Is he really the guy people think will get the job?

I don’t believe they are faking a search process and then hiring E. Either they were always hiring E (and an announcement is imminent) or there is a real search taking place and it won’t be E. I don’t think they do a search and settle on E.

Well, O didn't KNOW that Canada was gone.
He doesn't pay his salary or have the right to decide on his own. LSU pays the highest of top dollar for its coordinators. Even with that amount, once you deduct Canada's 1.7 mil settlement from our allotted 3 mil for OC over the next 2 years, that leaves 1.3 mil over that timeframe, or 650 K per year.
That amount fits right in Ensminger's wheelhouse. LSU knows they could hire Sean Payton and Lincoln Riley as co-OCs and unless they're bringing a QB with them, it won't make a bit of difference what they pay. Next year's team will rely on defense and a handicapped QB they can hopefully keep from scoring points for the other team.
This will be probably at best another 4 loss team no matter who and how much they pay. The OC hire essentially followed the same m.o. as the HC hire. LSU showed everyone where the REAL value was and that's Aranda.
My conversations with administration usually start and end with this is a business. A recent one just prior to the AR game was highlighted by talk of the half a BILLION dollars that NCAA institutions were paying in buyouts to coaches, which by this time has only risen. There was never much doubt where this OC hire was headed to me.
Until LSU gets an athletic QB and a coach that can develop him to sign, we are not playing for championships. We are playing not to lose and stay profitable. I'm mostly indifferent until that day comes at this point.

I don’t think there is any advantage to announcing it tomorrow vs Tuesday or Wednesday. Do you?

It’s all part of the plan!! Chicken has a deal with Alleva to prolong it in order to keep the coaching changes board getting hits! Brilliant!

I'm inclined to agree. But, I don't think the search would be "fake" per se. I just can't imagine they would have a press conference and answer questions and say no one else was considered, that they talked to no one, interviewed no one etc.
From a PR standpoint you have to say yes we considered others but ES was best fit. Furthermore, I think AD or others would push for O to at least look at other options.
It may or may not be done in earnest but I do think other names outside of ES would be brought up and feeled out.

Again that assumes no dysfunction.

They'll wait until the January 9th which is when the 10th coach is allowed so they can do all the new hires/positions at one press conference.

If it's Ensminger than it may be imminent but it won't be eminent.
Don't ban me.

That would make sense. It'd leak on 8th though.

It's a distinct possibility that, after seeing the O/Canada debacle, most eligible high ranked OC's want no part of this crap show and don't want to sign on for what might be a one and done season. No security and dealing with O might not be too attractive. They might have to settle for O's boy after all. Hope not!

But O knew he didn’t want him back. He has to have some idea of what direction he wanted to go if Canada did in fact leave.
