Scott Stricklin says hold my beer. This is his 3rd permanent football coaching hire in 9 years on the job after inheriting the last two years of the sharkfricker. Have been other coaching issues. Really surprising he still has a job.

Don't like this. Giving incentive for coaches to come here checked out day 1. You know that money is guaranteed. If it's performance based, sure, but why would he take that instead of guarantees?

If the offer is for $17M/year, you tell him he has to come over now.

Yeah not sure about that. Would be a bad look if Kiffin abandoned a team about to be in the playoffs. Don’t see that happening.

And while I see no chance of that happening (unless OM tells him to GTFO), i really don’t want a coach that would abandon his team right before the playoffs.

Put yourself in Lane's shoes the money is going to be the same at Florida and LSU they both proven to be able to produce Heisman Trophy winners and national championships in the past. LSU is an absolute s*** show from an administrative standpoint Florida is not

UF only won NC with a great coach, Meyer. LSU won two, one with Les fricking Miles and another with a Shrimp Boat Captain.

One is not like the other.

Exactly. It costs money to win in this League. Go hard or GO HOME!

That's kind of who Kiffin is. I understand it wasn't on the same magnitude, but he abandoned Tennessee after 1 year and was actively recruiting early enrollees to USC during his final team meeting.

We’ll treat “the norm” as current SEC head-coach salaries, since this is an LSU/Lane Kiffin scenario. 1. Your hypothetical offer: • $120M over 7 years ? $17.14M per year (120 ÷ 7 ˜ 17.14). 2. Current SEC salary landscape (2025 data): Using the published 2025 SEC head-coach salaries (Kirby Smart $13.28M down to Clark Lea $3.71M, etc.), the numbers give roughly: ? • Mean (average) SEC salary: ˜ $8.27M / year • Standard deviation: ˜ $2.30M 3. Z-score (how many standard deviations above the mean?): z = \frac{17.14 - 8.27}{2.30} \approx 3.9 So a $17.1M AAV LSU deal for Kiffin would be about 3.9 standard deviations above the SEC norm for head coaches right now. In plain terms: • That’s way past Kirby Smart’s ~$13.3M (currently the highest paid at a public school). ? • In a (roughly) normal distribution, being almost 4s out is astronomically rare

None of that bullshite means a thing on November 14th, 2025.

Is not set. It is literally being created as we speak. Let’s revisit this after the playoffs. I have no idea where Kiffin will be coaching or for how much. But it’s harder than ever to poach coaches. fricking Indiana paid their 64-old-coach something ridiculous halfway through his 2nd season. I don’t think $17/year will sound all that crazy after everything shakes out.

And $17/year wouldn’t get us Kirby. He wouldn’t leave Georgia for an extra $3.5 million. And it wouldn’t even be an extra $3.5 million as Georgia would match. Hell, if they go on a run and he winds up winning his 3rd, he’ll probably get an extension for $20 million/per.

SEC is going to 9 games next year. Playoffs are probably a couple years away from expanding again. Revenue is about to increase. $17/per won’t sound crazy for very long at all.

That’s likely not true. Probably closer to 14 million. Still a ton of money, but at least we won’t pay Drinkwitz 11 million, lol. That would be absolutely ridiculous.

So how do we get around his agent Jimmy Sexton and the pitfalls of the contracts he demands for his clients?
