Yep. He clearly lied to everyone involved including his team and the Utah administration about his true intentions. He’s an absolute POS. He has loved all the attention he’s getting now.

66 year old who has never been off the west coast, has been at Utah since 1994, has proven to be “good” with years of missing a bowl game from time to time. Since NIL: 8-5, 5-7, 10-2 in the big 12

The pressure at Michigan compared to a place he was at for 30 years while completely starting over…this has no chance to succeed. Their team is about to be depleted in the portal.

BS! A coach like Whitt stresses the trenches. That philosophy travels. He will do well at Michigan.

Tend to agree here. 66 years old. Been at one school for 20 years. Reminds me of when Peterson left Boise for Washington. Except Chris was much younger.

Not good enough. He has no right to look at, let alone take another job. To do so is abandoning his team and lying to the parents of all those innocent kids. He’s a selfish POS

This is a pretty good hire for Michigan at this stage.

Utah always had a good defense and would stay in most games.

Utah has missed 4 bowl games since 2005 1 of which was 2020.

I would suspect he will get more resources at Michigan however they might make him hire old dudes as staff members……

No chance to succeed…..yikes……

Call your shot. Do you predict that KW will win the Big 10, go .500 or better against Ohio State, or win a national championship while at Michigan?

I don't hate the hire. I think he was the best option available and will stabilize the program after the current mess.

But will he be judged successful by the normal standards of a blue blood program? On the balance I will guess the answer is no.

This is not a prediction. It is an equivocation

Is your prediction that he will?

Agreed. And that is a prediction

Last question. Is KW a good hire only because of the circumstances and available options? Or is he a good hire by the normal standards of a blue blood program with the ability to win the conference and possibly a national championship?

Kelly racked up G5 wins at Notre Dame. Whittingham has overseen the best 20 stretch of football in Utes history.

They are not comparable.

I think he can win a Big10 title.

He'll go at least. 500 against OSU.

Little bit of both IMO, but I would lean more towards the latter

Cheers

Those are legitimate predictions

I don't agree but it's a reasonable point of view

Whittingham winning % by conference Utah was in

Mountain West(6 seasons)
74%

PAC 12(13 seasons)
64%

Big 12(2 seasons)
63%

Seems like Whittingham is the G5 merchant
