I haven't seen his contract but I'd imagine the season includes postseason.
It really doesn't matter though. The point is, if he officially signs with LSU, then he isn't Ole Miss's coach, and they'd never let him coach another game.

I don't think LSU or Florida would make Lane eat that personally and they aren't going to let $4 mil hold up a $90mil contract

Then there wouldn’t be the smoke about Saturday this coming to a head. OM firing LK and not having an offset and owing $36M is the primary reason for the delay.

Here's how it would work for Lane to coach the playoffs for Ole Miss, and also be LSU's next coach.
The only way that's possible is if Ole Miss is okay with him being contractually bound to LSU well before signing Day, and LSU is okay with him splitting duties and coaching former team and recruiting and signing players for us. And think about the fact that Ole Miss would also have to be okay with him actively recruiting for LSU while on campus at Ole Miss Ole Miss would have a harder time with this than LSU to be honest
