Supposedly verbally committed to LSU vesterday and the board approved it today
You know how you can tell when someone has absolutely no idea how things work?

Change that to 7 years and it's pretty spot on.

Uh no. How do you have an MOU before the start of the process and before negotiations start? You have to have the negotiations so you know what actually goes into the MOU. An MOU is not a legally enforceable contract. It’s basically just an offer sheet that will spell out compensation that was agreed to between the parties, termination clauses and the agreed up liquidated damages.
Jesus Christ you are a dumb motherfricker! You didn't know what you were talking about and I politely corrected you.....now, in trying to compensate you try to twist words to make an argument just like a woman.
An MOU is signed at the start of the process...the process where negotiations take place over salaries, benefits, etc. Can you fricking understand that?
frick off numbnuts

I bet you said the same thing when lsu made Saban the highest paid coach.

The fact these are coming from ole miss mods pleases me. If it was ours I’d be worried it was fake

I don’t have any connections on the LSU side, but I happen to know people plugged in at UF and FSU. And the UF people I texted with earlier still feel really confident and in their ability to counter LSU. I have a feeling the next week will mostly be play between LSU and UF with the loser taking a pretty big hit
UF won’t have all week to keep going back and forth about this. At some point after a couple of days, they will have to break off and pursue getting another candidate signed. It’s one thing to have initial talks with a couple of others, but it can take a few days to work out a deal and get it to the finish line.
Either way, both LSU and UF need coaches signed and at the podium no later than Monday, but preferably Saturday or Sunday.

Yes but is it enough to fend off UF. That’s my primary concern and should be everybody else’s on this board now. They are making a push too
Rumor is UF had a deal in place for LK last year, but decided to keep Napier after their late run. So I think there was some reasonable confidence they’d be able to bring him in this year.
But they couldn’t have expected LSU moving on from Kelly, especially only a week after they canned Napier. That changed the entire dynamic. UF was still very confident, but I’m sure they threw up in their mouth a little.
So the UF fans are going to crucify Stricklin if they aren’t able to sign Kiffin. I know Stricklin signed an extension, and I have no clue how easy it would be for them to fire him now. I’m sure there is a faction of Boosters who might use losing out on Kiffin as a reason to cut losses and are fine watching him fall on his face. All this to say Stricklin may be working his arse off this week to get additional financial support to make one last run if in fact LK hasn’t committed to them. So I’m cautious to celebrate.
Someone suggested it may not be a tenable situation for OM to let LK coach the Egg Bowl, and they may have to move on before. But unless there is some grounds I don’t think that’s possible unless OM is willing to pay his buyout?

I thought they hired a group to do the search along with Strickland? Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Just for clarity, which team would be the “loser” in this deal? The team that lost Lane? Or the team that lost their minds with this insane contract for Lane Kiffin?
If LSU wants to run with the big dogs this is the going rate. They didn’t become willing to pay a huge buyout to Kelly if they aren’t committed to winning big. IMO Kiffin gives you the closest to a guarantee of the coaches available by a long shot. The next great coach is out there, but no one knows who that is yet.
The fact that UF and OM are willing to pay the price is a good indicator of the current landscape. LSU isn’t alone. And by kickoff next season LK won’t be the highest-paid coach anyway. At the very least Day and Smart will get extensions in excess.

They have a firm that’s vetting for them, and I imagine other in-house athletic staff with input on the decision. But ultimately Stricklin will get the glory or blame as to the ultimate success or failure of the next coach.

All I said was that I believed that the MOU would be signed before the whole week got to play out. That’s based on other credible posts from posters that have proven over the last couple of days to have pretty good info. Not sure how that needed correction…
YOU are the one that said an MOU is signed before negotiations begin. That’s verbatim what you said.

before negotiations begin.
That’s what you said. I didnt twist any of your words. Now if that’s not what you meant, maybe you need to learn to be more clear in what you say.

An MOU is signed at the start of the process...the process where negotiations take place over salaries, benefits, etc.
So now it’s signed at the start of the process, not BEFORE like you originally stated? You are the one twisting words and moving the goalposts. It’s ok that you were mistaken or just not articulate enough to properly convey your thoughts.

Rich coming from someone who thought you could sign an MOU “before negotiations begin”. Glad I could explain it to you though.

Not worth the paper it’s written on. Just like the verbal commitments recruits make.
Posted on 11/22/25 at 11:21 am to GEAUXmedic
That’s how we get them. We verbally commit then screw your contract up with clauses. Just ask BK
