I was told by a Bama booster that Lane was dating a Board of Supervisor/Trustees (whatever Bamas equivalent is) daughter while coaching there and left her high and dry which led in part to the “he’ll never coach here again” mindset of Bama.

Thoughts ?

I didn't say they're the same. He said Kiff won't want to build a legacy in Saban's shadow. That's exactly what he'll be doing in Baton Rouge.

They literally go to Atlanta if/when they beat Auburn.

The fact that Lane was there for the taking 2 years ago when they were caught with their pants down by Saban’s retirement and they didn’t even consider him is pretty telling. I don’t know if that would have changed.

I mean, this is pretty obvious. I don't think Texas or Bama are interested in Kiffin. However, if he blows it up at LSU don't think they'd care about the bridges he burned in the past. Winning makes you forget pretty fast.

Good thing Saban didn't think like a loser like you...

Great competitors done shy away for the easy road.

Alabama job. That's the top of the mountain

Alabama is not top of the mountain. Let’s be clear, Saban was, and no one else could have achieved what he did.

Looking back, they’re so far beyond incredibly fortunate how that timeline came together with Saban and the whole Rich Rodriguez situation.

I think he would need to win a title for that to happen.

I agree with you. I could see Kiffin leaving for Bama if they wanted him. The question is do they want him? I don't think so. And yes, Bama is a better job than LSU right now. There's only a few places that could say that so they probably could poach him. I don't think Bama will ever see the prestige they did under Saban again though, especially post NIL era. If anything, I think NIL era has degraded some of their advantages and it will stay like that.

Well yeah. I hate cliches but 'better to be lucky than good' 100% applies to them landing Saban how and when they did.

Also, Bama is not better job than LSU. LSU and Bama are on par as the same level of job. Before Saban got there, Bama was not the program they are today and will it reach that level again.

What exactly was LSU before Saban got there? Pre Saban, Alabama was a much better program than LSU. Alabama is without doubt a top 5 historical program, maybe number 1. LSU is not. That said, while LSU is in the tier just below bama.

I can see why LSU came out with the news that they will pay BK without cause. That was a valid point.
