lane is just a smoke screen for the UAA to hire Kliff Kingsbury

Saban isn’t coming. He was in the mix but no longer. Time to move on.

DeBoer
Chris Petersen
Heupel
Drinkwitz
Matt Campbell
Chris Klieman
Lance Leipold

These guys were FCS and were damn good at their current gig. Given the ceiling at a place like Iowa State or the Kansas schools, I think that would translate well to an LSU.

Honest question, what is the point of a smokescreen in a head coaching search? You either want the guy and you offer him or you don't. You think they are really running this major sophisticated NSA counterintelligence operation?

There is literally no smoke. The current and acting AD of LSU came out and said its not happening. Stop listening to and entertaining fake insiders on message boards.

disappointment

Not always a bad thing in a coaching search. And oftentimes sets the expectations at reasonable levels for the first 2 years, leaving room for steady improvement.

I was mildly disappointed when we hired Miles….
I was extremely disappointed when we hired Orgeron…
I was extremely pleased when we hired Kelly.

My point: happiness or disappointment on the day of the hire means absolutely nothing. It’s what happens on the field the next 1-4 years is what matters. I can only speak for myself, but I’ve learned my lesson on coaching hires… just gotta let it play out on the field.

I told the board House would not be back on 12/5/23, in the midst of everyone freaking out that he was still on staff. I was told before the A&m game that year that he would be released and would not be let go until after the bowl game because Kelly did not trust anyone else to be interim DC. Was also told #1 target was Baker. I hinted at this in other posts heading up to House being let go and Baker hired. I grew concerned when Baker signed extension with Mizzou a week before he ended up here.
I was told 2 weeks ago that Saban was entertaining talks, which surprised LSU, and that led to optimism. Was told last night that he was out. Could it be false info? Of course. But, I did not ask for info. My friend offered it up in conversation, and he’s as connected to the program as anyone in BR. He went from quite surprised that Saban might be interested to seemingly dejected that he was out. He’s tight lipped on everything else from the lawsuit to who they are after at this point, and he knows what’s up.

All this Saban talk is gonna create some ruffled feathers with people thinking it’s going to happen. I hope it changes just to see the Gumps melt, but it won’t.

I heard from two different people that have some pretty deep ties to the program that Saban is the guy. I'm not saying that I believe it, but that's what I was told.

Saban is the guy the egos and attention seekers want...because they want the attention.

The reality is Saban's not coming to LSU, or even seriously considering it. But LSU DOES need a coach and Saban is repped by Jimmy Sexton. Sexton has other clients. He's dangling Saban to LSU to get a sense of truly just how much money LSU will be willing to spend on a HC. If LSU is willing to pay $15M, $16M, etc. a year on Saban, he knows they have the money to spend $11M, $12M, on a "lesser" coach out of desperation.

LSU won't want to spend that amount of money on a lesser coach. But at some point it because an issue of supply and demand. Sexton (and every agent) are creating the demand...and he knows these big time SEC programs, with big time egos running the show, are desperate for a winner. With the "supply" of such coaches being low, he's able to raise the salary amount for his "mid-tier" clients

You all will get Riley, this time. He’s the next HC at LSU. IMO
