What did Ben do to get fired?

He had bad typos and didn't know how to edit. Clearly needed to be gone.

With NIL it's an even bigger arms race and will be across the country. So can't argue with you here.

Both programs have pipelines into Texas talent.

Texas produces skill players and not really enough of the offensive lineman. LSU doesn't have a problem recruiting skill players.

Les Miles and Ed Orgeron came to LSU and won a title. So easy a caveman could it it.

So you believe that A&M is going to turn into a new super power?

A&M isn’t in the conversation. That shouldn’t need a justification. OU is 9-0 and ranked 8th, which shows how they are perceived.

2007 was a fluky year. We had 2 losses and Ohio State was mediocre. 2019 was all about the coordinators and a generational QB. Look where we are now.

Do I believe A&M is going to be a superpower? No. But, I think they are in just good as shape as us. Which is why I would consider them a peer.

Outside of a Saban led Alabama, I don't see any superpowers in college ball.

Ok… but we were the best team in the country. Everyone else played in the same fluky year.

So our team.

Except this is the best shape they’ve ever been and we’re no where close to our potential.

So the Aggies are peers without a national title. Guess we’re just going to look at peers different and welcome to the circus

Alabama

Ohio State

very small gap, if any

Oklahoma
LSU
Clemson

Georgia - no title in 40 years precludes them from higher tier
Florida
Notre Dame
Michigan State
A&m
Oregon
Penn State

Auburn
Michigan
Baylor - recent performance

This seems like a fair tier system for college football programs right now

Florida State has won three national championships (1993, 1999, and 2013) and finished in the top five of the AP Poll for 14 straight years from 1987 through 2000. Their program is now in shambles.

Do you consider them a peer?

Are Georgia and Florida not peers? Florida has won 3 titles since Georgia last won one. Ohio State has been on a hell of a run for 20 years while Michigan has been mediocre. Are those 2 schools not peers?

Bama is Daddy

They have just been extremely fortunate to hire the two greatest coaches of all time. They were lost for quite some time before Saban. Had Saban not left LSU, he would have done the same thing here. Both programs have the same potential, IMO.

So if 2007 was a fluky year, then what the hell would you call 2020? Would you call Bama a Fluke Champ?

Not sure what you are trying to get at. They were undefeated. The season was definitely a mess because of Covid. But, Alabama won all of their games. So, no, not fluky.

LSU has great potential, but Bama football is run like a machine. Just a machine that won't stop. A bad year for Bama football is 2 losses. LSU internally is just not run at that level.

From 1980 to 2007, Bama had less than 2 losses 3 times in 27 years. Nick Saban is the machine.

Oklahoma and aTm as peer programs

Well one hasnt finished higher than 4th since ww2, and the other has about 7 national championships in that time. So yea, LSU is somewhere in that range.

Just find it interesting you're putting A&M up there with nothing to show for it. But to each their own.

The instate talent of Louisiana is light years ahead of Oklahoma and we also have a pipeline to Georgia and Florida, two other talent rich states. That’s what makes our program more attractive from a recruiting standpoint.
