The texas athletic department inmates are running the asylum. You just don't have all these, I guess you could call them, outside distractions, in a well run athletic department. Too many bull shite hanky panky things going on there. Someone needs to clear out their AD starting at the top (done) on down and probably leave noone behind but secretaries.

i dont doubt any of this, and that's why they're looking for new leadership. But it's an easy fix for a guy like Saban who everyone will defer to. What you're saying is there's a power vacuum. Nobody's really in charge, so everybody thinks they are. If they can get a Saban-type guy, this problem will go away quickly because everyone will know who's the boss.

Trust me, it was that way at LSU before he came here. Probably at Bama too. He's a perfect hire if they can get him.

Probably true - But the Texas Administration damn sure won't let a head football coach come in and "clean things up" for them. The powers that be at UT - the boosters at UT won't let a football coach run his own program and keep their oily fingers out of it.

The same thing could be said for LSU, Bama, Auburn, Florida, OSU, Michigan, etc. Those boosters want to win more than anything. All of them, at every one of those Universities. And, they know that Saban can, and will, bring a Championship if they just write a check and turn on the tv.

Just like LSU and Bama, those guys are gonna put their oily fingers in their pockets because they know that Saban wont' fail at Texas.

Are these the same guys that can't even get the sitting head coach to "step down"? All they have to do is fire his arse, pay his buyout and go on about their buisness.

Mack is out. Make no mistake about it. Its just a matter of how they want it to look-kicking him to the curb, or him "resigning" from coaching but staying around the university as a fundraising person.

Everything's pretty much going according to schedule as far as I can tell.

It is Don Shula's assessment of Saban's character that is so damning - He's a liar, a quitter and would be "no big loss" to the Dolphins organization.

You mean the father of the guy Saban replaced and the former coach of the team he left to do so had bad things to say about Saban? Weird.

I don't know why you would characterize the situation like this. I doubt there will be a "search," unless it's just to keep up appearances. I suspect that Texas will not fire Mack unless it knows exactly who it wants and has the deal pretty much locked up. They are not going to cut Mack loose and then begin to flail around for a coach. The "messiness" to which you refer is from all the speculation. Texas hasn't done anything that would indicate that any kind of search is going on.

Mack is in a holding pattern until the deal is finalized. He will not be "kicked to the curb". There is still a lot of loyalty and honor that is shown to Mack down in Austin, and the guy is just well liked by people. He is nothing like Saban when it comes to how he treats people. If any one of you ever met Mack in person, or even knew a kid or family of a kid who played for him, you would better understand why he has been given so much leeway throughout the years.

I know for sure Mack doesn't want to leave, but he's not going to do anything to hurt UT. I'm sure this whole apparent drama going on down there is all in the plan. I still say if a deal with Saban is not reached, which it may already be, Mack may be there another year.

Or, what if all along the AD had a timeline in place, the media leaked the story, set their own timeline that didn't match the AD's and now everyone is thinking it's a disaster? All the while Bellmont is following the original timeline. I don't know that that's the case for sure, but it's a distinct possibility.

Nah, Bellmont isn't that smart.
