Flew in for the day yesterday. We had to wait 20 minutes for the rental shuttle bus. It was an hour from walking off the plane until getting in the car. Same thing on the return. Who thought it is a good idea to to take visitors thru the ghetto to get to the car rental instead of a building close to the terminal? I know other airports have shuttle buses but I can’t think of another one as inconvenient as New Orleans.

There’s been a lot of bitching about that. The airport has major design flaws. But let’s put Mitch Landrieu in charge of a trillion dollars.

The rental car terminal was the last big “upgrade” before Mitch’s new airport. It was built to be walking distance to the old one. One of many reasons they should have always built the new in the old terminal footprint.

The old way was much better even during a cold

They still haven’t finished the I-10 flyover and it’s been open for over two years. Entire project is a logistical shite show.
Why the frick would you make someone enter on the first floor, go to the third for ticketing and to check bags then go back to the second for the terminal.

Yeah it is a mess, so far I haven't had an issue as I've flown Delta and it is just going through TSA with no bags

Any word on what late night arrivals at MSY are looking like as far as rental car shuttles go? Landing next Thursday at 9:30p and driving up to Baton Rouge

Same exact scenario as OP. Wait 20 minutes in the cold wind, ride through the ghetto on what feels like a corn field more than the road.

I have complained about this new airport from the minute they decided to build it. I fly in and out of MSY weekly. My bitching is the same as before:
1. Someone(s) on the board made coin off this project
2. They claim board members are unpaid and receive no benefits, but have reserved parking right outside checkin
3. Board dissolved frequent user parking to sell bonds to build the airport
4. Why do you have to disembark Terminal C (Delta/United) and walk across TSA incoming traffic to leave the airport terminals? The exit nearest Terminal C is never opened
5. The lack of seating at the gates is ridiculous. Aircraft seat 200 passengers and there is gate seating for 100
6. Short term parking is 90-95% full and the reason is because individuals who work at the airport have passes to park in short term parking
7. Going back to #1, board members made coin off the building of this shitty airport and should be investigated

And my last gripe in this thread about the airport:
Try to avoid TSA right after a Saints loss or the Monday after a Saints loss. That is when the REAL TSA takes effect making you feel like a lowly POS. The REAL TSA of high school graduates really take it out then on anyone who seems to have a higher level of intelligence after a Saints loss
