Not regularly, but flew each once (round trip each time).

They both are good at what they do-- bare bones, economy airlines. Great for direct trips (no connections), not too long in distance and not too long in time.

If you do things the right way, you can get some flights at ridiculously low rates; lots of round trips less than $100. -- pick the right days, don't check luggage or bring carry-ons (put all your stuff in a "personal item" about the size of a backpack), print or phone download your boarding passes yourselves, bring your own snacks and a drink, etc.

Never had an a issue with delays, service or such on any of my flights with them.

Adding an article below LINK

quote:

Frontier Group Holdings Inc., the parent company of Denver-based low-cost Frontier Airlines, is buying fellow low-cost airline Spirit Airlines Inc. in a nearly $3 billion deal.

The acquisition, announced on Monday morning, would make the combined airline the fifth largest in the U.S. Together, the carrier would have more than 1,000 daily flights to over 145 destinations in 19 countries and annual revenue of about $5.3 billion, based on how they performed in 2021.

Kind of shocked that Frontier is bigger than Spirit. I'm a Spirit defender, and have taking Frontier numerous times, so I actually like this. Hopefully his means MSY gets more options out west from Frontier now.

Throw in Allegiant for good measure.

I don’t crap on them as much as the others because of their steal Canadian business away to the USA model they used to build their airline. Allegiant has been great for Bellingham.

They helped Shreveport with expanding the route map too, I've never flown them but my dad did once and said never again.

I didn't know this was in the works before the announcement, but it makes perfect sense. With fuel prices increasing it represents a big challenge to the ULC model. This way that have more power to increase fares with combined assets and more security. I hope the Frontier brand is retained.

That's the entire model and its great for what it is. If you don't need the route, why do you care what others use?

Their model is to connect cities with cheap direct routes that dont have direct routes with the majors.

I have taken Frontier from Pensacola to Denver for under $100 each way. I think Delta was like $450/ ticket. When its a direct flight under 2.5 hours compared to flying through Atl or DFW that's huge IMO.

Most of the routes are "tourist" routes. Bringing people to the beaches, to NOLA, to ski, etc. from places like the midwest or northeast.

Allegiant I think's main or one of their main hubs was Vegas. Same thing.
