WTF is this school thinking? Holding a religious revival service during school hours at a public school? Come on, man

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Between calculus and European history classes at a West Virginia public high school, 16-year-old Cameron Mays and his classmates were told by their teacher to go to an evangelical Christian revival assembly.
When students arrived at the event in the school's auditorium, they were instructed to close their eyes and raise their arms in prayer, Mays said. The teens were asked to give their lives over to Jesus to find purpose and salvation. Those who did not follow the Bible would go to hell when they died, they were told.

It probably wouldn’t be right in New York but it sounds on brand for West Virginia

Who possibly thought this would fly? I have no issue with christian events being held at public schools so long as they’re completely voluntary. I hope this story is exaggerated and has some wrong details, because it seems like this event was mandatory for these students, or that they were made to think it was.

Imma wait for the fifth iteration of this story.

I’m not a fan of shoveling shitt down anyones throat . I’m also a fan of getting religion back into peoples life but by taking nonsense out of their life’s and inserting esteem and confidence in . But at least they didn’t offer up snakes there

Marxism is a religion. Anyone who says that it isn’t doesn’t understand Marxism.

say some classmates were forced to attend a sermon from an evangelical Christian revival group during the school day
So who was forced and who wasn’t?
Not everyone was forced.

from article
quote:
More than 1,000 students attend Huntington High. The mini revival took place last week during COMPASS, a daily, “noninstructional” break in the schedule during which students can study for tests, work on college prep or listen to guest speakers, said Cabell County Schools spokesperson Jedd Flowers.
Flowers said the event was voluntary, organized by the school’s chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He said there was supposed to be a signup sheet for students, but two teachers mistakenly brought their entire class.
sounds like the teachers fricked up the voluntary part

I have no problem with it if it was optional. My kids public school in south MS still prays before sporting events etc I have no problem with that. This country could use a little more Jesus.

I don’t have a problem with any of that unless this part is true:
If they went voluntarily - there is no violation.

Wokism, among other things, fills a religious void in people’s lives.
It gives people purpose.
Humans need purpose, for men, once upon a time that was hunting and fishing to support our tribe, or going to war to protect it, but in the modern world, we almost never get to do that.

Yes
