Everyone chilled out because it’s JJ first year and it will not be fixed overnight. LSU does not have the pitching to compete at the highest level yet.

I agree with this statement, but I have to add.
This defense has regressed from last year. We have the same core group on the field. I wouldn’t say they were great last year, but they are terrible this year. With solid D we probably still lose to Texas. With solid D we beat Baylor last night. They didn’t look special.
At this point the only players I trust to make outs are Morgan, Crews and Dugas. Every time there’s a ground ball I’m expecting a wild throw to 1st now.

While this seems true, they can’t compete against SEC schools period if this is the dogshit normal defense. You have a shortstop and 3rd basemen who can’t even throw across the diamond much less handle a routine ground ball sometimes. Your catcher who is unbelievable at defense but can’t really hit is now injured and now it’s a catcher that can’t play defense or hit.
And a right fielder who can’t read the ball when it’s in the air.

Yes but he didn’t have to fix the defense. Guys have gotten worse under JJ. It’s obvious that he does not put the same emphasis on defense as CPM did

The rant used to continually bitch because they said that CPM recruited too many small guys who were good fielders. They would say who cares if they can field, I want big dudes who can mash.
They obviously need to improve, but unless we are winning games 8-0, there will be bitching
