Anyone who gets to be in charge of money tends to use it on themselves and spread it to their cronies.
It ain’t limited to the US either. Remember the “sign language interpreter” at Mandela’s funeral? They gave it to a completely unqualified guy as a way of “sharing the wealth” only for it to become an internet sensation due to how laughably bad he was miming fake ASL beside Obama.
