I went to a local shop here in the KC are called Golf MD here in Olathe. They are one of the few places I know of that builds all their clubs themselves. I had never done a fitting of any kind so it was a new and fun experience. The only thing I told myself before going was that I would not get Mizuno just because apparently everyone and their dog has been getting Mizuno clubs lately.

Apparently I have always played clubs with a solid offset and I dont need it. That was my biggest takeaway from the experience. It was fascinating how every club head change or shaft change created so many significant differences. I can see why those who have been fitted feel so adamant that everyone should do it.

anywho, here are the results:

Drive - Mizuno ST-X 9.5 Accra I 162i M-4
3W - Mizuno ST-X Fuji VP 6S
4H - Mizuno CLK 19D VP 70 (S)
Irons - Mizuno JPX Hotmetal KB Tour (S) [4,5,6,7,8,9,PW,GW]
Wedges - Mizuno T22 54:12, 58:12 (I cant remember which grind I ended up with)

I kept my white hot rossie putter and just put a new and thicker grip on it.

There were so many numbers I cant remember them all but the biggest thing was I was a high spinny hitter with my old clubs and with the new clubs I was in the blue on the trackman in every category. The one number I do remember is my 6i went about 173 and the new 6i goes about 198. That blew my mind. I saw similar jumps in most clubs other than Driver. The new driver is only about 10-15 yards longer than my old driver but should be much straighter and consistent.

As a side note, I was hoping to hit some PXGs with their current sale as last time I was in Golf MD, they had PXG. They have ended up dropping PXG and no longer sell them. PXG would no longer allow Golf MD to build the clubs in house and required all PXG clubs to be built at PXG with only 3 shafts to pick from. Golf MD tried it with a few customers but said the clubs they ended up receiving from PXG were so far out of spec it was hard to fathom. On top of that, PXG was terrible about standing behind the product and fixing the errors to be within fitting specs. So Golf MD dropped them and said several others they know of did so also.

PXG claims the sell direct only. I know someone here said it wasn't true, but our shop no longer fools with them either.

Yeah, it seems PXG brought it all in-house-only sometime early this year.

Oh well, I think I'm really going to like the Mizuno clubs.

PXG pricing will go up with the Gen 5 models.

As evident with the new Wedges .

I ordered another GEN 4 Hybrid last Wednesday and I will get it tomorrow.

Thanks. The fitter really tried to get me into an assortment of brands but he said I was one of the only customers he can remember ever getting fit to one brand in a whole bag fitting. I swung models from Callaway, Taylormade, Titlist , Srixon, Ping, and a couple others.

I did hit the new Taylormade stealth the furthest of the drivers but I had a hard time hitting it straight.

I also have never had a hybrid before so this will be a very different experience for me.

Sorry. Maybe it is an inside joke or something but what is Buddha and how is it related to Mizuno?

Welcome ...

I have the ST190 Series Metals and the MP20 series irons. Love them.
For a company that is known for their irons, the driver is surprisingly good. Fairway metals and hybrids are solid.

Nice looking set.

As for the driver, 3W and hybrid, they seemed great during the fitting. I'm not a long hitter and that hybrid was going about 240 according to trackman. That is better than my old 3W. I'm really excited to see how it all plays on the course.

I got to play my first round with fitted clubs this last weekend other than my 3W. The 3W got scratched minorly during shaft install so they are ordering me a new one.

Also, I had my notes wrong and I got the ST-Z driver, not the ST-X.

The fitted shaft on a driver is just an absolute game changer. Not sure I gained significant distance, but the accuracy and flight is drastically different. Everything is straight and where I am. I no longer have to focus on certain aspects of my swing. I just swing however feels good and the driver just works. No hooks, not high spinny drives, etc. Just solid straight proper flight drives in the fairway. I think the thicker grip is helping too.

Playing with a hybrid for the first time was an experience. I never hit one before other htan on the trackman. It was instantly a comfortable club off the tee but hitting it off the ground was hit or miss. I have some definitely learning/adjusting to do with that club.

The JPX hot metal irons are just gorgeous. I dont like how nice they look with all the mirrored finished surfaces because they look too nice to get dirty. I'm hitting all the irons a bit off the toe and they are still longer and straighter than my older TaylorMade tour burner irons. The shop said it will take about 3 rounds to adjust to the irons and I believe it. Hitting off a mat with a trackman isn't anything like hitting off grass.

the T22 wedges are nice, too. I got the D-grind on the 58 and S grind on the 54. No complaints with them at all other than being all mirrored finish. These are the first wedges I have had with the etched faces in addition to the grooves. I'm interested to see how it impacts spin. I didn't get many chances to really test them this last weekend. Everything was a basic chip.

No. I live in the Kansas City area and went to Golf MD. They were great. They took their time and tried just about every club they had at their disposal to find the right clubs and shafts for my swing.

They also build all their clubs in house so you dont have to worry about getting a club and then having to send it back to manufacturer because they got something wrong. One perk buying from them is that you can go in any time and do lie/loft checks and get swings in on the trackman to see if anything has changed. All lie/loft adjustments are free (or included in purchase price depending on your view).
