Why doesn't Paul Simon get some appreciation on here?

I would venture to say, maybe a third of the people that post here have listened to his music or know that he was a part of Simon & Garfunkel.

I would guess that everyone realizes that.
He's a very talented guy, but it's kind of pop folk.
A New York guy, singing about the Mississippi Delta and the Civil War?
Paul Simon co-wrote the 1st real record that I ever owned. It was a 45 single that I got free with a milkshake at a Jack's burger joint when I was a kid. Before that, I had a coated cardboard record that came with a box of Honeycomb cereal.
This is the one that came with the milkshake..

Graceland is one of my favorite albums of all time.
It’s incredible.

Graceland as an album has some of the best bass playing ever.

Saw the Graceland tour in Lafayette. Simon had a bunch of musicians from Africa with him. He started playing some songs from the album and crowd was listening and clapping politely from their seats. Band played first few notes from “You can call me Al” and the crowd jumped to its feet and started dancing in the aisles. As soon as song ended Paul Simon said “ Wow! Let’s do that again!” Proceeded to play the entire song again. Crowd kept dancing the rest of the concert. I’ve never seen a song played twice in a concert ever again but it worked.
Paul Simon is an American icon.
You can call me Al

His voice is starting to fail him. Ok...he is 80 years old now.

I would have killed to see Paul during the Graceland tour.
You experienced a time in music that was incredible.
The production or sound of Graceland is unreal, every little nuance of the song is recorded and expressed.

During my college years, I listened to the Central Park concert double album frequently. All good songs and some humorous comments to the crowd.

Love Paul Simon and remember seeing him at the Cajundome in the early 90s when I was like 4-5 years old. Right after the Rhythm of the Saints came out.
I don't remember much about the show except Late in the Evening and You Can Call Me Al had that place rocking. lol

I am assuming he played "That Was Your Mother."
He's one of the greats, Rhythm of the Saints is a desert island for me.
