Fall roster:

Updates from Koki Riley:

quote:

Johnson: #LSU will play McNeese State on Nov. 6, UL on Nov. 13 and then the Purple and Gold World Series will be from Nov. 18-20.

quote:

Johnson: They don’t plan on using Paul Skenes as a catcher but he will hit and pitch for #LSU.

Johnson and Wes Johnson has spent a lot of time “mapping out his days.”

quote:

Johnson: “Great pitching coaches are hard to find.”

Adds that bring in in Wes Johnson was a no brainer.

quote:

Johnson: Gavin Guidry turned down “significant” bonus pool money in the draft to come to #LSU. Adds that he has good speed.

quote:

Johnson: Gavin Dugas “will spend some time in the infield” this fall.

quote:

Johnson: Javen Coleman underwent Tommy John surgery and they’re not sure when he’s coming back so they’ll be careful with him.

quote:

Johnson: They’re working on making adjustments with Hayden Travinski’s swing.

quote:

Johnson on Ethan Frey and Jared Jones: “Keep those guys away from Coach Kelly because they look like football players.”

quote:

Johnson: He wasn’t surprised by who was signed away by MLB, expect for maybe one at the end (probably Carter Young).

Guidry won't pitch apparently.

Likely because he’s going to be counted on to play every day

Said Ethan Frey and Jared Jones look like football players, which I guess is the family friendly way to say they’re built like brick shithouses.

I'm thinking 2B, SS, and 3B is going to be some combination of White, Thompson, Dugas, and Guidry. Is there anyone else that we think is going to compete for those spots?

This could be interesting.

I still want to watch the whole thing later, because the beat writers never capture everything. But Koki Riley, Glen West, Leah Vann, and Zach Nagy are all there tweeting, so you get a good well rounded view because they all will emphasize slightly different things.

I agree.

Before the additions of Frey and Jones (and maybe after) he had the most power on the team. Just needs to put the ball in play and he can be a reliable option at the plate.

He mentioned another name when discussing 2nd base, I somehow didn’t catch it….maybe I’m hearing things. I did hear him mention Dugas as an option

When discussing MIF he started with Thompson. Said he was a clutch hitter in big wins, and defensively improved after the midpoint of the season.

From there he mentioned in order, Guidry, Nippolt, Dugas, and Merrifield.

Sounds to me Thompson is the SS right now.

35 plus 5 COVID year guys is the max. We only have 4 COVID year guys though (Bollman, Beloso, Dugas, and Merrifield). We have some guys that are injured and may redshirt.

Jordan should be able to leverage LSU job with a head job pretty soon

Wes Johnson doesn't have much to say, looks like he is the kind that is in the background grinding everyday and those kinds of results are needed to get the pitching back to Omaha caliber.
