Let's take a look at the Top 10 Highest paid CFB Coaches and what's REALLY happening

All I see around here is a "BK is getting paid $10 mil/year so we should have at least 10 wins in year 1" attitude. As if the money by itself guarantees wins. Well - lets take a look at 10 other Highest paid College Football Coaches and some of the shite they are dealing with as well.
10. James Franklin ($7 million/yr): Back to back 5-loss seasons and Penn St finished outside the top 25 - finally having a decent season this year.
9. Jim Harbaugh ($7.05 million/yr): Not too long ago he was on the hot seat for never winning the big games. 1-5 Record in bowl games. At MICHIGAN - one of the most storied programs in CFB
8. Lane Kiffin ($7.25 million/yr): 5-5 in yr 1. 10-2 in yr 2, and is currently 6-0 (2-0 in SEC). Took him at least 1 full year to get Ole Miss back on track
7. Jimbo Fisher ($9 million/yr): Jimbo's disappointments over the last few years have been well documented. 9 Million a year for a record no different than Sumlin and sub .500 in his last 11 SEC games.
6. Mario Cristobal ($8 million/yr): Having an absolutely miserable 1st season. 2-3 in last 5 games with embarrassing losses to Middle Tennessee and UNC
5. David Shaw ($8.9 million/yr): How this guy is still the coach at Stanford, I don't know. When was the last time Stanford was relevant (post Andrew Luck)? 3 consecutive losing seasons (not counting covid yr) and currently 1-4 (0-4 in conference)
4. Ryan Day ($9.5 million/yr): One of the few who arguably is earning his keep (40-4 since becoming HC). But c'mon. . it's Ohio State - he inherited a solid program from Meyer and they are a perennial powerhouse.
3. Mel Tucker ($9.5 million/yr): Living off of 2021 when he went 11-2 and won the Peach bowl. Overall record at Sparty - 15-11 and 9-10 (sub .500) in conference
2. Lincoln Riley ($10+ million/yr): He's 6-0 but they haven't played anyone yet. I have no doubt that (just as he did at OU) his teams will choke when they have to play the big ones. Bonus: look at the shite show he left at OU.
1. Finally Nick Saban and Kirby Smart - I'm putting them together b/c essentially these are the 2 coaches (both making almost $11 million/yr) who everyone is comparing their coaches to. Nick went 7-6 his first yr at Bama. Kirby went 8-5.
So. . .bottom line: Quit bringing up the "BK makes $10 million a year so I expect him to turn water into wine" mentality. This is a public service attempt to give some of you deluded rantards some additional perspective, but we know how that goes. . .

IDGAF about any of those other programs or how much they pay their coach. I am interested in LSU. Right now CBK is looking shakey as an in-game coach. It is early days, but the Tenn game was a total cluster frick. He does not get many more of those imo.

I see we've moved past the "well actually JD is really good" stage and on to posting irrelevant information to defend the coach.

Any time someone mentions a coach’s salary it’s an automatic tell they are just haters and looking for any reason to tear them down.

Brian Kelly led a perennial top 10 program before this and had been to the playoffs multiple times. A counter argument to your counter. You also have to look at recruiting momentum which is there for lsu. Need to focus on finishing there.

I'm not taking the time to research it rn, but I'd be interested in seeing the contemporaneous salaries for coaches who had the best records in each of the last 4-5 years. I imagine they're some much lower salaries in the mix.

People also like to use both sides of this. Crediting him for having top 10 teams but then saying they were overrated when someone brings up the fact that he loses games against other top 10 teams.

We’re not passing the eye test for a well coached team. Saban, Kirby, Kiffin, you could immediately see that there was something special brewing even though they lost a few games
