In Louisiana.

Looking at a used bike at the moment. Or may get a new dual sport. But they are hard to find right now.

I know it depends on the driver but more or less than a vehicle?

Depends on the type of bike too. An 1100cc crotch rocket is going to cost more to insure than a 500cc cruiser. But motorcycle insurance is going to be cheaper than a regular vehicle.

Go to progressive.com and do an online quote with your info and the type of bike you're looking at.

In Louisiana.

if you havde a car policy with them, its like $75-$80 a year to add the bike.

most insurance wont give you bike coverage without a car policy, or if you can, they will charge the same amount to cover it as for a car

Well I'm 48 and this will be my first. Rode a dirt bike maybe a dozen time when I was a teenager.

Started looking and just can't really decide what I want.

im 57, never had an accident, and i average only 1 speeding ticket in truck coming home from fishing every 18-20 years at most, and state farm kept raising prices on car and bike. they wanted $129 a year for just the bike.

i switched over to alstate and pay $84 for the bike and around $300 a year less for my truck then state farm wanted.

I pay Progressive $75 a year for a 250 duel sport.
No other policy with them.
It was the same for my CB900c.

I have had quite a few motorcycles and insurance rates vary just as much as car rates. I have had bikes that were less than $100 a year and bikes over $100 a month. I guess when a bike goes 0-60 in less than 3 seconds insurance is going to be high but a car that could do that will cost many times more and insurance will be much higher.

Also depends where you live in LA, south LA is going to be higher than north LA. If you are up around Monroe etc, get Geico or Progressive shouldn't be much.

2007 BMW 1200 GS Adventure, Monroe, new full coverage $900/year. Now $180/year liability only. As to life insurance, totaled an '06 same as above due to left turning pickup. ATGATT (All The Gear All The Time) utilized and hardly a scratch.

Nah, just lean on family and friends to support your dependents. And Gofundme. don't forget gofundme.
