Therefore, as invitations are sent this week, we will invite those eligible under our current criteria to compete in the 2023 Masters Tournament.

Seems like a reasonable response.

This is awesome. Very much hope one of them wipes the floor with the field of PGA players. Lol people will lose there shite

Why ?
The Masters is an invitational and is not under the PGA Tour.
They have the right to invite who the want. This was expected since their criteria was in effect for the 2022 season.
The PGA Tour has vastly improved their product as well and those changes will be in effect in 2023.
The PGA Tour vs LIV jousting was fun when it started, now it's just meh.
The Consumers will pick the product that they want to invest their time with. I'm good with that.
2023 brings the eternal hope of bettering your game and the excitement of new club offerings along the search for more birdies.
Invest the time in your own game going forward.

Because a bunch of posters were certain the masters wouldn’t allow those players.

Yep. I seem to remember hearing that about all the majors.
World Golf Ranking points will eventually come as well.

It’s inevitable even with the WGR people slow walking the process to maintain their last shred of relevance.

I’m fine with it. On one hand I would have been ok with temporarily not inviting the LIV guys until it died off, but there’s no guarantee that ever happens.
So now at least I get to see Cam Smith play golf again.

This is good news for past champions, but the guys relying on OWGR points still seem like they’re gonna be in trouble unless LIV gets the same allotment as the PGA tour. Will be interesting to see.

Guys like Koepka, Louis, Gooch etc are playing their last Masters or 2nd to last masters….. As it stands now only past champs and other major exemptions(for only a few years) will be the only way LIV players can make the masters. The OWGR is and has always been the silver bullet. Nothing has changed there. If, or when, LIV gets OWGR status then everything changes drastically. But until then the PGa tour still holds the trump card for keeping most young aspiring talent
For example, Taylor Gooch, a really good rising young golfer, is playing his last masters unless he wins a major

Yep. Really sucks for fans of the game of golf. I already knew that would be the case, just sucks to see it become reality.

The boomers are not gonna like this.

It’s an invitational. They can invite who they want. The best liv players will be playing at Augusta.

I don't foresee the Masters changing their criteria for LIV.

Lost in this apparently is The Masters hasn’t changed a thing.
Their invitation criteria is no different. If you meet it, you can play.

This
Masters was never going to prevent past champions from playing, it's a huge part of the tradition. Ranking points and how they are allotted are all that matters going forward regarding majors

Exactly.
The other Majors will make their own decisions.
None of these players are scared to play each other.

This doesn’t even make sense. LIV has to qualify for world ranking points like any other tour. Just because you have 5 top guys in the league doesn’t really mean much.

I think it’s fair to say both things:
The OWGR doesn’t really make sense when it doesn’t include LIV. DJ is obviously better than his ranking
LIV has to meet certain requirements to meet the OWGR. Chase Koepka has a 9th and 14th place finish despite being ranked outside the top 1000 in the world.

Thought a reason the guys went to LIV was so they could have more time to spend with their families. Masters week would've been a good time.
