Jim Harbaugh last second Hail Mary

This game doesn’t get enough love for NFL classic playoff games.

Steelers had a salty defense, vintage Cowher, Bam Morris at running back.

Colts got hot in the playoffs and almost went to the super bowl.

This was a great game.

They and the Bears were the only 2 teams to wear black shoes and spat their cleats with black tape so as a younger man I would root for them in addition to the Saints.

I like when the local radio teams refer to their QBs by a name like Jimmy Harbaugh or Tommy Brady.

To this day, I still know him as Bam Morris. He’s one of few athletes that i don’t know his real first name. Don’t spoil it.

I just looked at that 95 playoff bracket. There were some really good games in the wild card and divisional rounds.

Totally forgot that Marshall Faulk got hurt for the Colts and his backup running back was Zack Crockett, who set their franchise record for 147 or so rushing yards and two td’s against the Chargers.

Not sure they don’t go to the Super Bowl with a healthy Faulk.

The guy who almost caught it was Aaron Bailey, future member of the New Orleans Voodoo.

Was so rooting for that team...gutsy performance by Harbaugh.

But the Steelers survived.

After their choke in the AFC title game the year before, losing at the end with 1st and goal.

Think about how many times Cowher's Steelers scraped by or didn't despite being overwhelming favorites in the AFC Championship game.

San Diego at home
Colts at home
Bettis fumble that almost lost it

Same. They hadn’t won a playoff game in 24 years before that wild card game against the Chargers.

Legitimately thought they caught that Hail Mary, and 13 year old me jumped up and fist pumped my right hand straight into my grandmother’s ceiling light fixture. Oh well.

The 94 Steelers were one of Cowher’s best but definitely choked against San Diego.

Too bad Neil O’Donnell bet on the Cowboys to win the super bowl, am I right??!

The Steelers were my best friend’s favorite team, so naturally I pulled for whoever they played.

Rough era for me as a Saints fan.

They should have beat Brady’s first Super Bowl team

What’s ironic is that Drew Bledsoe started and won that game replacing an injured Brady.

That was at a time where upsets weren’t terribly common in the playoffs and no Wild Card team had won three straight road games to reach the Super Bowl in 10 years. The Colts first game vs San Diego was a fun game. They then upset the Chiefs who were the best team in the AFC. The franchise hadn’t really done anything since it moved to Indianapolis in 83, so it was a big surprise to see the Colts a game away from the Super Bowl.

On the other side there was a ton of pressure on Bill Cowher and Pittsburgh. They were the #1 seed in 1992 and lost at home. In 94 they were the #1 seed again and lost the AFC championship game at home. Steelers fans were losing faith in Cowher, and given he followed a guy who won 4 championships the fans were not happy the Steelers were wasting good seasons by not reaching the Super Bowl. To lose to an underdog at home again may have been unforgivable. That’s why you saw the emotion from he and his family when they won.

Did he get a % of Larry Brown’s free agent contract with the Raiders right after the Super Bowl?

Probably for the best. I REALLY disliked the 49ers back then, but they were gonna boat race whichever AFC team they played.

Didn’t the Elway Broncos also upset Pittsburgh in the AFCCG in 1996 or 97 before beating the Packers in the Super Bowl?
