The second line continues to struggle offensively. JRich's shot isn't falling, Dyson is too timid on offense, Naji gonna Naji, and Nance can only score around the basket. The lack of shooting off the bench is going to hurt us big time in the playoffs.

There nothing we can do at this point. These are issues we must address in the offseason. Naji has to be gone, he is redundant, we need another playable center since nance hasnt look right since his injury, and we need as much shooting as we can get

I am more concerned with the 5 position than shooting off the bench for now. We can score and if we don't have a turn style at center we can defend.

Also, one of the 5 starters tonight should have been coming off the bench.

Zion not playing is the only issue. If he was playing, that's an extra 20-25 points and 7-9 rebounds.

That too. Zion playing pushes everyone down one spot in the rotation making it look much better

I may be wrong but I think Nance is about to try & totally rework his game...in an effort to prolong his career. He's at the point that Horford & Lopez were a few years ago when they both went to heavy usage of the 3-pt shot...since they could kinda see the end coming...if they didn't adapt & make themselves MUCH more valuable on the court.

I thought Nance might be headed that way a coupla years ago at Cleveland, based on the changes in his offensive stats. Guess we'll know soon enough come next year...but he could be quite useful...if he goes the direction they went...and is anywhere near as successful as they were.

That's all I was saying, but you put it into perspective Jose would add some energy to the second unit.

Before the Thunder game a few weeks back he was shooting some 3’s while doing work outs pregame and his stroke was nice. Obviously that’s drastically different than live action, but if the base is there just needs some polishing. Would really be helpful keeping him around long term.

Completely thought the same thing. He peaked at like 160 3pt shots on 35-36% efficiency in Cleveland, and shot less and less afterward.

I get that he struggled to keep his efficiency in Portland (30%), but he was already shooting less outside anyway, even the year before in Cleveland when he was at 36%.

Seems like an obvious step to his game, and one that would be incredibly helpful.

Re: the weak bench production overall lately….we do have two lottery picks riding the pine.

Zion brings shooting and spacing. Trey is moved the the bench when Zion returns. There’s your extra bench scoring. That’s not including Jose.

We have 60 mil in Val, CJ, and Nance. I think that has to change/ be upgraded.

Hurt today for sure…team only took 21 outside shots and managed a whopping 14%…however the bench managed to still be worse with 0

It’s really sux that the Pels don’t have any additional shooting or young bigs on the bench, so they really just have to rely on Naji’s broken shot, and a hobbled Nance, or put Herb at the 5…I mean there just aren’t any other options for Willie…right?

From SI:

“ New Orleans, as a team, made three 3-point attempts the entire game. Minnesota made 13 and was a +30 in that category. New Orleans also committed 15 turnovers which the Wolves turned into 27 points.

Karl-Anthony Towns led the way for Minnesota with 30 points, but the Wolves bench thoroughly outplayed the Pelicans. Minnesota's bench outscored New Orleans 37-8. Bench scoring has been an issue for the Pelicans, and it showed on Sunday.”

Well bench scoring would be an issue when one of your best bench players(Jose) is out and the other one (Trey) is starting because Zion isn’t conditioned to play lol

Want to guess who on the Pels bench has a higher career per 36 PPG average?

We might have the worst bench in the league right now in regard to offensive production

The answer is actually Jaxson…although Kira’s is better than all of them except Trey (when he’s on the bench) this season.

Willie has options, and should have had more/better if he didn’t have such a fetish for journeymen.

Cj is going to have to be moved for better pieces imo.
