Appreciate any and all insight, folks...wonder if he'll be ready.

I could see us jettisoning Jonas at the trade deadline for the right deal if Karlo can help.

Have a great day !

jettisoning Jonas

Speaking of jettisoning, I see JV roaming around MSY. Y’all didn’t tell him I was critical of his athleticism? That’s a large man.

He could snap me like a twig but I’m fairly certain he couldn’t catch me.

All joking aside, I’ve got mad respect for the guy. The way he came back in the final game put a smile on my face. I just think his style of play is no longer relevant in todays game.

The goal should be for Matkovic to be a replacement for/upgrade to Jaxson, not JV.

If the team feels it needs to move on from JV, it needs to look for answers elsewhere.

I wouldn't agree with that. The team cost itself some games with the way Willie used, or rather didn't use JV. That's not JV's fault, but it does make him a problem.

I think the first thing the FO has to figure out this offseason is any coaching staff changes and just what Willie has and hasn't learned. That will tell you how much urgency there is to move JV.

Absolutely agree. Clearly JV is going to be a liability in certain areas. To then not use his strengths when matchups dictate it (which happened way too often) is just poor coaching.

I am absolutely convinced we would have won the play-in game if we would have kept feeding Jonas in the 3rd quarter

And they will quickly learn that answers at the 5 are hard to find here, there, or elsewhere.

Yep JV has his limitations but the avenues to upgrade at the 5 are slim when you look at it. We're better off adding shooters and overhauling our offensive scheme

anytime my wife says another guy is attractive, i typically say well it doesn't matter b/c i can whip his arse so it ain't happening.
She's coming around on JV after we recently went to a game and sat behind the bench. I said, well honey, i'll do my best, but i dont think i'll be able to kick his arse. That's a big arse dude that i would not want to mess with.

and i'll remind all of you that we had this exact same conversation about the shitty Niko Melli. People were expecting him to come over and be better than Mirotic, and i tried reminding people that he hadn't played a minute of NBA ball and we should not be assuming he'll be able to provide valuable minutes. Same thing with this cat. Would it be nice if he could come in and play valuable minutes on this team, without a doubt, but don't expect that, and definitely don't have even the smallest expectations that he could replace JV.
The odds of this guy being good enough to play off the bench for us isn't very high, but i'm rooting for it as well.

We need an angry Jonas. I want PED Jonas this off-season. He’s already slow. Let’s beef up and enforce

The short answer is no.

Karlo isn’t going to come in and be a playoff winning starting 5. It will take a miracle for him to be more than the 12-15th guy on the bench.

He’s a slow footed PF sized 5, with no real game outside of the paint (but that’s why he was the 52nd pick).

Presumably the Pels were taking a flyer that they could use a late pick to stash him overseas and hope that he unexpectedly expanded his game outside of the paint, but that hasn’t happened.

Again, the +/- totals for the season were:

JV: -10
Larry: +182

We were a negative team with Jonas on the floor this year. There's a good reason that he didn't close games for us.

And he had the team's third-highest salary this year. It makes zero sense to pay a guy $15 million if he's a negative player for us and can't be a part of our closing five.

How much of that was the starting lineup getting absolutely wrecked for about 5 weeks though? Not saying he doesn’t have to be better because there was definitely a stretch where he wasn’t very good then he sat down for 2 games and came back right.
